Hi everyone, I just bought a 2002 Continental CE. It is my second car and I am just learning how to do basic maintenance under the hood.

Today I cleaned the MAF sensor, replaced the PCV Valve, changed both air filters which were really dirty, and cleaned the throttle body.

I thought I would be able to just pop the IAC valve off by taking the two screws off but the i think it was the throttle body that is somewhat blocking the screw on the right. Do I have to take the throttle body off? How hard is it, can I just take the 4 bolts off the throttle body?

Or is there an easier way!?

Thanks a lot guys! I appreciate it!!

Hi Dunk and welcome!

Unless you are having a problem with the IAC valve, I would leave it. No use to replace good parts.

Sound good Nick, I will leave it since it is running great right now.

If in the future I would like to take it off, would i just pop the 4 bolts off the throttle body in order to get to the IAC valve?

If you are not familiar with this year, that's ok. Just bugs me that I am not sure!

Thanks

Jared

No, you do not remove the throttle body.

The 2001 Continental has the 4.6 4V DOHC engine that is probably the same as the 2002 model. Attached is the procedure to replace the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve when required.

Good luck.

P.S. the procedure is the same for the 2001 and 2002 models.
