New 2025 Corsair PHEV

Hi all. New guy here.

Thinking about buying a new 2025 PHEV Corsair.

HOWEVER:
We are going to move into a facility that has a heated garage, BUT no electric hook ups. So I am wondering about the practicality of a plug in vehicle. Yes, it's true the Corsair will recharge the battery while driving, up to 75%. Using a charging "station" is an option, I do not know of the charges for using that type charging.

Let me know your thoughts please.

While the vehicle will run in hybrid mode and gets pretty good mpg (mine does) you're basically carrying around a heavy battery. Charging at commercial spots will not get you more than 20-30 miles on EV. Cost will be higher than your home. Doable? Yes.
No electric outlets at all for you to use? The charger that Lincoln gives you does both 110 and 220. I use 110 in my garage. Works fine for me. Does take a while to charge from empty.

I love my 2025 PHEV Corsair.

I don't know if the 2025 may have been redesigned from 2023 but my 2023 PHEV definitely does not charge while driving.

My ‘24 does not recharge while driving. It does have regenerative braking but that’s a different thing.

I wouldn't recommend a PHEV without a dedicated power source at home, you need to look for a regular hybrid car that actually recharges a usable amount while driving. Battery technology is advancing rapidly so my personal opinion is to wait until lighter and more powerful batteries are used, right now you are carrying around a ton of excess weight.

I am really confused here:
Everything I've read says the Corsair PHEV does recharge the high voltage battery when in the Perserve EV mode.

From info I found on line:
Yes, the high-voltage battery in a Lincoln Corsair Hybrid can be recharged while driving through regenerative braking and, if in Preserve EV mode, the gas engine will also actively charge the battery. Regenerative braking converts the vehicle's kinetic energy into electricity during deceleration, and Preserve EV mode uses the gas engine to charge the battery to a set level.

Even without wall charging the PHEV remains a very good hybrid. The Corsair can be charged from a standard 120V outlet so virtually everyone could at least sometimes charge. It just takes a commitment to do so.

Charging from the gas engine makes little sense to me as that design typically has inferior performance in comparison to a full hybrid. Though I'm aware some "hybrid's" are built that way, they don't have the performance of the full hybrid.

I concede I may be biased by my 63+ mpg at 18.5k miles.

I have a 2025 GT and use a 120v outlet with the supplied 120v charger over night; it works well. Frankly I have not used the gas engine yet (only 750 Kms) given our short local trips.
However I have a question for the forum. I will be storing the vehicle for 5 months in a garage (mild climate). I am planning to leave the GT plugged in set at max charge 70% and place a trickle charger on the 12 volt (plus fuel stablizer and tire pressures max).
Does anyone have experience with long term storage of the Corsair GT?

Yes I leave my 2023 GT plugged in for 3-4 months when not being used. Charge set at 100%. There is no need for trickle charger on 12 v battery. Car will charge 12V battery when reguired.

Also realize that setting the charge to 100% doesn't really charge the battery full. The car maintains a 10% full margin to account for regenerative breaking with a "full" battery. A 0% charge isn't really empty either, the car maintains a 10% empty margin to act as a standard hybrid when the battery is "depleted". There is no reason I'm aware of to not charge to 100% always.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate the tips and feeling better about leaving the vehicle plugged in for 5 months. As for the charge level, the dealership recommended 60 to 70%. According to "some" sources charging to 100% can shorten the life span of the lithium batteries. And the dealership recommended the trickle charger, although I have also read that charging the batteries also maintains the 12 volt. Unfortunately my dealership has no experience with long term storage and there is nothing that I could find in the manual about long term storage - ar least to address my timeframe and absence from accessing the car..
