My Lincoln
1993 Towncar
The driver seat in my 1993 Towncar is stuck in the way forward position. Only my wife is short enough to drive it; I can't even get in the driver's seat. I believe it's the motor, not the switch. Can't tell from the shop manual if the 3 seat motors are all the same. Is there a source for replacement/refurbished motors?

Have you taken voltage readings at the motor? Since the seat is all the way forward, perhaps the switch "move back" position is defective.

Last time I was allowed to check, the seat did move a little towards the back, but not very far. This is my wife's car, and she is concerned that if I mess around with the seat position it may not return to her comfortable position. Since we won't be driving it this winter, I'll get a chance to remove the seat and get a good look at the motor and track units. So far, I've just looked through the shop manual diagnosis chart and guessed at the answers. In case I have to "REMOVE and REPLACE" the motor and transmission assembly, I wanted to check for a source for 30-year-old parts.

I hope I don't have to mess with the switch in the door. It's kind of a pain to remove the door panel without screwing up the wires.
