My Lincoln
1977 Mark V
Hello all,

I’ve got a 1977 Mark V and have been looking into getting a QuickJack (small scissor lift) for tire rotations/brakes/etc on the Mark as well as the rest of my fleet. They do not sell one that can accommodate our cars’ length when lifting from between the wheels (where unibody jack points are), but the lifts can be placed perpendicular to the frame and lift in that manner.

It brings up a question regarding dimensions and jack points, however. Does anyone know the distance between the frame rails in terms of width?
If you have preferred jack points, do you know the length between them? The width between them?
If you’ve used two post lifts with these cars, do you know roughly where the center of gravity is?

None of these need to be exact measurements, but having these specs reside in one place would be handy, not just for me, but for anyone else looking to safely lift the car for maintenance or storage.

If anyone wants to grab a tape measure the next time they’re working on their Mark V, post the results in here if you wouldn’t mind. Pictures with preferred jack points are also very helpful!

Finally, if anyone stores their car on jack stands, please mention or show images of where you position them as well. I’ve read unfortunate stories about folks putting stands too close together and having the body sag due to the length of the car.

Thank you all!

My Mark III is on jack stands.
The rear stands are on the axle housing as wide as possible.
The front stands are on the lower control arms

If you wanted to lift the frame, there are massive torque boxes on the frame just behind the front wheels and just in front of the rear wheels.

Body sag is not possible by the jack stand placement above. The way I have it is the same as if the wheels/tires were on the ground. The torque boxes have so much metal in them it is doubtful any damage would occur with long term storage using those points.

I have no dimensions. Frame dimensions were are one time in the shop manual.
I have never owned a Mark V.
