You did not post places that you looked.
Typical places to look for new replacements would be
Amazon
eBay
Rock Auto
Evan AutoZone or O'Reillys can be a source

Used sources would be
Lincoln Land
eBay
Local recycling yard
Desert Valley Auto Parts

Also know that Town Car for that year is a trim level. Town Car as a model, did not start until 1981.
When searching for parts, leave the trim level off. This may aid in searching.
You have a 1978 Lincoln Continental.

looked at all those places online except Desert Valley auto parts going to Arizona at the end of the month will continue my search there ...Thanks so much for the response James Mcmahan

Then waiting for it to show up at eBay.

I waited almost 8 months for some trim on my LTD to be listed for sale.
I have bought entire cars to get certain pieces. Both in state and out of state. Then I parted out the car. A little extreme.
And I have parted out 4 cars. Most recently parted a 72 Mark IV. I wanted the ABS (of the period) and the rear stabilizer bar assembly for my Mrk III.

Try your local Lincoln dealer…they should be on a national parts computer network and they can see if any Lincoln or Ford dealers nationwide might be having one gathering dust in a shelf.

Some time ago I had a ‘78 Corvette that needed an a/c idle compensator. The local Chevy dealer found several dealers around the country that still had them. I called one and the parts manager was happy to sell me the two he had at a huge discount to clear his inventory of them. I used the one I needed and the the other on eBay for more than they both cost me.

It’s a long shot but give the dealer a try.
