I have had the same issue where I manually lock the door on the inside while exiting the vehicle and sometimes the door does not lock, even though the key fob is in my pocket. I have never figured out why that happens but since it does it so randomly, I have never dwelled on it. But I agree, it happens.

On a side note, I do like the feature where I can leave my keys in the car and lock the vehicle by pressing the last two digits on the door keypad together.

I have found, on a few occasions, the when I try to lock the doors using the exterior door handle, I accidentally put my fingers in the area that unlocks the doors. I have to be careful.

I think this is the most likely scenario. It took me a while to master this on my first vehicle with smart keys. Ensure that your fingers are not in the area between the handle and the door. A single finger on the top of the door handle will ensure that it will lock.

Hey all. So the reason the vehicle unlocks when the door lock button is pressed before closing the door is actually by design. A feature called "auto-unlock" the way this feature works is, if a fob is detected inside the vehicle when the door is locked and closed it auto-unlocks the door (also accompanied with a beep or horn honk depending on model year) to let you know that A: the doors have been unlocked, and B: there is a fob detected in the vehicle. Its simply to prevent one from accidentally locking their fob inside the vehicle. There is a way around this however. Using the securi-code keypad on the B piller of the driver's door after closing the door with the keys in the vehicle.

With that being said: if you have Intelligent Access enabled (it should be by default), to lock your vehicle, you touch the raised bumps on the top of any of the door handles. To unlock the vehicle, you simply grab the door handle with the fob in your pocket.

Hope this helps. Cheers

tried touching those "buttons" today while leaving the car. Doors didn't lock.

I've found that the mirrors fold when the doors are locked and that's what I look for when I walk away from the car.

As long as you have set auto-fold ON.

FOLDING THE EXTERIOR MIRRORS
With the auto-fold feature enabled, the
exterior mirrors fold in toward the glass after
you place the transmission into park (P), turn
off the vehicle, open and close the driver
side door and lock the vehicle. The exterior
mirrors unfold and return to their driving
position after you unlock the vehicle and
open and close the driver side door.
For tight parking conditions, press
the control to fold the mirrors.
Press the control again to unfold the mirrors.
If you press the control to fold in the mirrors
with auto-fold on, the mirrors do not unfold
when you unlock your vehicle.
Note: The power folding mirrors operate with
the ignition on, and for several minutes after
you switch the ignition off.
Note: If you fold and unfold the mirrors
several times within one minute, the power
fold function may turn off to protect the
motors from overheating.
Switching Auto-fold On and Off
1. Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2. Press Vehicle.
3. Press Mirrors.
4. Switch Autofold on or off.
