Lincoln Nautilus Ownership Experience: A Series of Disappointments

I am now getting Consumer Reports (since dad's mail forwarded to me) and if you look at the reliability reviews some automakers are better at tech than others. They have their issues but obvlously fewer of them. Ford/Lincoln has issues even with old tech.

If you read the OP, I do not think the basic problem was just tech. The long list of issues was on simple issue - bad battery. A sharp dealer would have checked various aspects (battery, software, etc). The OP does not detail what was done for some of the issues (70% charge, connectivity).

For what it's worth I expected tech issues with infotainment with a first year vehicle. I did not expect the battery and window SW issues along with rotor and shock issues. These are long standing automative basics. Ford must do better or they will suffer.

Having said that, my dealer has been proactive and I can say the only issue I have is with the rear shocks. All the other issues were dealt with before they became a problem for me. So I am happy with this car.

Funny I strongly believe the rear adaptive shock issue is also SW. I assume Ford engineering is too busy with all the other SW issues to address the shock issue.

As I read through various threads it seem it prompts me to recall other "small" things I simply ignored. So here is a list of my problems to date.
Auto stop/start does not work
Embrace feature will not light up
Running boards will not deploy
"Warning chime" has changed its sound
Cell phone contact list, recent calls and favorites disappears and then reappears.
Instrument panel arrangement changes randomly...features reposition themselves on the display.
Warning tone when closing the rear gate sometimes does not sound.

There are many features I do not routinely use, adaptive cc, lane keeping, etc so I really do not know if they are working properly.

Delivered to the service department Monday at 8:00AM. Their tracking source data does not yet show it has been taken into the shop! Day 4 of setting in the parking lot. Most disappointing. 2 years old and 23,000 miles.

Cadillac dealer about an hour away. Several "sedans" in stock and priced very competitively. Hummm

Lincoln Nautilus Ownership Experience: A Series of Disappointments

I purchased a Lincoln Nautilus, expecting a premium driving and ownership experience, but ongoing reliability issues and service delays have made this one of the most frustrating vehicle experiences I’ve had.

First Service Visit – December 2024 (391 Miles)

During my first road trip, several critical systems failed:

  • BlueCruise stopped working.
  • "Check Brake" warning remained on.
  • Memory seats failed to save positions.
  • Repeated "Create Passcode" message.
  • Inconsistent A/C and heat temperature regulation.
  • "Lane Centering Not Available" message frequently displayed.
The technician attributed these issues to low battery voltage, noting:
"FDRS found battery testing low, recharged battery."

Second Service Visit – January 2025 (1,888 Miles)

Just over 1,500 miles later, more issues required service:

  • Phone would not connect via Bluetooth.
  • Mud flaps installed crooked.
  • Battery would not charge beyond 70%.
  • Vibration at speeds of 40+ mph.
  • BlueCruise, Adaptive Cruise, and Lane Keep Assist were all non-functional.
  • Alarm randomly activated when shutting down the vehicle.
To address the vibration, the dealership replaced the right-side tires, which reduced but did not fully eliminate the issue.

More Issues – February 2025 (Under 3,000 Miles)

Before reaching 3,000 miles, additional problems surfaced, requiring yet another service appointment:

  • A recall issue.
  • Rumbling noise from the rear.
  • Ongoing vibration from the tires.
  • A persistent popping noise (sounds like a plastic bottle popping).
  • Repeated "Internet Signal Lost" messages.
  • Brakes now making a growling noise when stopping at low speeds.
After my last service visit, I discovered food wrappers stuffed into various crevices, which caused a bad odor in the vehicle. I do not eat or allow eating in my car, making this unacceptable.

BlueCruise, Adaptive Cruise & Lane Centering Need Refinement

Beyond the functional failures, even when working, the BlueCruise, Adaptive Cruise, and Lane Centering systems need significant refinement. These features struggle when negotiating long, sweeping curves, causing the steering to feel jerky and unnatural. The automatic lane change feature also needs improvement, as its execution feels abrupt rather than smooth.

Service Experience: Delays & Restrictions

Getting the vehicle serviced is a long and frustrating process, with appointment availability often taking weeks. Additionally, the loaner car provided has restrictions—I am not allowed to drive out of state, forcing me to rent a commercial vehicle for work, which was never an issue with my previous vehicle.

Unfulfilled Features & Additional Concerns

The Rejuvenate feature, which is advertised as part of the Reserve III package, is still unavailable. I would like to know why it has not been implemented and when it will be activated.

Final Thoughts

I really want to love this vehicle. It’s mostly quiet, rides smoothly (aside from the tire vibration), and drives well. However, the reliability issues, unfinished software, inconsistent braking performance, and disappointing service experience overshadow these positives.

This is my first Lincoln vehicle, and unfortunately, it has been an incredibly disappointing experience. I expected excellence in both the vehicle and service, yet I have encountered constant mechanical failures, service delays, and poor dealership attention to detail.

I sincerely hope Lincoln and its dealerships take these concerns seriously and work toward improving both vehicle reliability and service quality.
i have some of the same. i'm conviced there are quality issues/ Next stop another brand.

In terms of service, Lincoln has all these programs: send service to you, get a loaner car, etc. But many are capped at 4 years/50k and are "if available at a specific dealer". I agree this does not seem promising. My 2005 Lexus I can get a loaner at any dealer with scheduling, from my experience. And rarely a huge delay to get it. My Cadillac, I can no longer get a loaner since I did not buy the car at the local dealer. They changed policies. So I crossed Cadillac off my list when looking to buy this time, in case I have to take it elsewhere.
At least with Lincoln, I can go to a wider dealer network: pretty much any Ford dealer can service it, although not sure about the 2024.
It is true that service varies from dealership to dealership. I am lucky that the dealership closest to my house is very responsive to my requests and seems to have loaners readily available. I didn’t even buy my Nautilus there, but did buy an MKZ there in the past and am using the same service advisor as I used for the MKZ.

I have not been impressed with the dealership in Ft Myers, FL, where I also spend some of my time. So I know first hand that some dealerships value service more than others.

The one time I had to use the Lincoln Towing service, the tow truck didn’t arrive for several hours. I was having trouble with my loaner on the day I got it. Luckily, I wasn’t far from home and was able to go home and leave the keys in the car. It was disappointing that the tow truck took so long and really unacceptable had my circumstances been different that day. The Houston dealership did send a new loaner to me that evening.

I'm still trying to figure out which Nautilus has deployable running boards.

If I go back and look at the list of real issues I see but not clear what has been fixed
1. battery failure - still not clear if it was addressed since later issue reported.
2. brake noise - is this the "grunt" (I have had brake noise after wheels get wet but rare)
3. vibration - few have reported any vibration problems
4. rear noise - is this the shock issue
5. popping sound - ?
6. recalls - none except injector have any real impact
