It does not say gears as in a noun. It says
"Invalid Data Received from Gear Shift Control Module A"
The word gear in this case is an adjective to add a description to the noun which is Module A
Has nothing to do with gears. Has everything to do with Gear Shift Module. (Cirsuit)
The issue is (electrical) data is not getting to the module. The reason for that requires more diagnosis. The posibilities are:
Wiring
Connectors
Grounds
Or the module it'self
Lastly some other possibility I am missing
There are companies that test and repair all kinds of modules. Typically 50% of all modules sent in pass any test with no repair. The module was not bad.
You are also getting a second code. With a statement of - Commanded Position Not Reachable
I am not exactly sure what this means. The shop manual would be the go to source.
My guess is there is some part of the door function that is out of sync with the signals (or lack of signals) to the door control module.
One meaning would be conflicting signals from different sensors. Which is physically impossible however electrically it is being reported to the module that way. The module is not programed for that conflict in signal and is stuck because of the impossibility. Again this is my guess.
And again the issue is likely electrical. The factory wiring diagram will show the circuits for the module and with that you will have knowledge of connectors, grounds and wire harness routing.
And if it were me, I would be working on U0404. The gear shift control module circuit. The position of the gear shifter is necessary for the doors. If the vehicle is moving (gear shift position) the door control is going to have a very different programing than if the vehicle is stationary.
