Lights turning on and off on their own

Is it possible there is a clone near you? Someone else with a Ford or Lincoln key fob? May sound far fetched, but key fob cloning is a real thing.

According to several videos, the Lincoln Welcome or Embrace lighting should activate once it detects the keyfob. The range is said to be about 8-10 feet.

Yes, it wouldn't have been much further than that if any. The cabinet I had the spare key in was on a outside wall adjacent to the driveway leading to the garage. I left the car in the driveway and woke up to the light show. Took me a while to figure out what was going on, because I had forgotten about the stored key.

We have never had that issue, at least that we know of. Keep keys near car in foyer by garage in FL and here in IA, on a table in the foyer about 10-15 feet from Aviator. Now putting keys in a box that keeps all our car keys transmissions from being on air to the world and anyone who might be attempting to steal their codes.

My 2023 Nautilus Black Label does this. I use Phone as a Key as well. I had the same light show issue as well. I took the batteries out of the key fobs since I never use them anyway, and that seemed to fix the issue. If youre not into pulling the batteries out (its not hard), you can try a faraday box to store your key fobs in. Its essentially a mesh metal cage you put your keys in since faraday cages prevent wireless transmissions in or out of the box. I just took the free route of pulling the batteries.

If you don't use the keyfobs you could also wrap them in aluminum foil if you don't want to get a Faraday box for storage. Works great.

This just started happening with my 2022 Nautilus. I bought it in March 2025 - 16K miles. no problems, then last week lights just started coming on, headlights, welcome lights. then randomly they fade off. i have only 1 key fob kept in very back room of house, in my purse far from the car. at least 40 feet away. it never did this before until about a week ago. same house, same parking spot on driveway. have the phone as key, and phone can be in back room, i go into kitchen i see my headlights on shining into kitchen window. then they go out, come back on (keys and phone out of reach) then off. sometimes it will do a cycle of 2 or 3, sometimes just once. there is no rhyme or reason i can find on the web. It currently has 21K miles on it, had the transmission replaced at 18K miles, but no electrical work completed by me, i see some by previous owner but i cannot tell what electrical they had done. and the sunroof motor replaced at 10K miles per the maintenance records. If i take it to dealer its not something i can make happen on command. its random. i rad a faulty door jam or one that needs cleaning, so i did. still happens lights randomly kick on.

Welcome to the Forum. 👋
I don't think the proximity of the keys or phone has anything to do with the issue. My keys are kept within about 15-20 feet from the vehicle and haven't had any issues.
If you are in doubt about the key causing this, you could try wrapping it in aluminum foil. That will isolate it. BTW. the range required to activate the welcome lights is about 8-10 feet.
You can always let the dealer know about the issue and ask then to note the issue on your file. They may ask you to bring it in.
