- 2022 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring
I have been using the wall charger that came with our '22 Corsair GT for almost three years without a hitch. I believe it is NOT the Webesto supplied charger that has had so many issues. Ours is black with a Lincoln logo. It's hooked up to a 30amp, 220v, line that's shared with our dryer. No issues at all with this setup (except coordinating when the dryer is in use as the line can only feed one outlet at a time!!)
Enter our new '25 F-150 Lightning. In probably the only negative I experienced during the buying process, I did not fully understand the difference between the charger/installation that Ford was offering vs our existing wall charger. Therefore, since I was working hard to keep costs down as much as possible, I took the $500 rebate instead. Had someone explained the difference in units, I would have gladly taken the Level 2 charger and installation vs the rebate!! Water under the bridge ...
Using our existing wall charger with the Lightning actually works fine, but it does take far longer to charge!! For example, our Corsair takes about 3.3 hours to go from 0-100%. The F-150 is taking me about 12 hours to go from 50-80%. Obviously the battery in the Lightning is FAR larger and thus the time connected is understandable. Although it's actually OK, since it looks like I'll probably only need to charge once or twice a month and I can hook up overnight, I am thinking of upgrading to a full Level 2 charger on a dedicated 220/240v line off in the future.
My question is: for those that may have such a Level 2 charger, how does it work on the Corsair? Any issues or problems? Is it faster ... or is the time connected a function of the on-board charger and thus doesn't make any difference?
Thanks in advance for any info.
Ken
