Hey, this is my first Lincoln. The car is driving fine without any issues, but when I walk around the back, the exhaust makes a putting/sputtering sound. Is that normal for Lincoln/Ford vehicles? Car has 6500 miles

Hi anthony1230. Difficult to offer accurate diagnosis without being able to hear the noise.

The odds are that all is well. However, perhaps stop by the Service Department of your Lincoln Dealership and ask one of the Service Advisors to listen to it. Or even the Service Department of a local Ford Dealer, if that is more convenient.

I’m sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.

It sure does not sound normal.

Service Advisor here...Have you tried giving it some throttle? Try pushing the gas pedal to see if water shoots out of the exhaust. It is common this time of year with temperatures all over the place that condensation buildup in the exhaust system can cause gurgling or even putting. Happens alot to the vehicles on our lot, both used and new after torrential rainfall and them sitting for a week or more. If temps have changed alot it can happen overnight as well. Perhaps the temperature hasnt changed much, but if its cold outside, the temperature difference between the ambient air and the exhaust system will still be vastly different. And if humidity levels are high enough it can still cause this situation to happen.
