Hello,
Any suggestions before I call the dealership on how to troubleshoot the problem? When I touch the handle of the car, the doors are no longer locking/unlocking even though my key fob is in my purse. Thanks for your help.

Hi aleesh and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. A few questions first:
- Have you ever replaced the batteries in the fob/fobs?
- Have you tried using the second fob to see if it works properly using that one?

There should be a dashboard warning when the fob batteries get low. However, we can’t always depend on those warnings.

In my opinion…Considering the age of the vehicle, the place to start would be replacing the fob batteries (if not already done). The instructions are in the Owners Manual.

I’m sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.

Thank you so much for responding. I did try changing the battery in the fob without any luck. I have started using the second key fob and so far it doesn't seem to have to same issue. I'm wondering if there is some sort of unpairing/pairing that can be done with the key fob. Thanks again!

Hi aleesh. Blind Internet diagnosis: If your second fob operates correctly, then this would seem to be a problem with the first fob.

If you already changed the battery in the problem fob, then my thoughts are that the fob is failing.

There is a fob reprogramming procedure outlined in the Owners Manual. You can try performing that procedure with your two fobs and see if it cures the problem.

If it doesn’t, you may need to replace the defective fob.

EDIT- Forgot to mention…I’m assuming your 2020 is outside the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty. However, if you have an active LincolnProtect ESP or similar ESP contract (with Keyfob coverage), schedule a service appointment.

I’m sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.
