High Pressure Fuel Injector Replacement

Headed to Houston this weekend. Will let everyone know if I get stuck at a nice midpoint in the middle of nowhere. :’)
I would not trust it. Ours blew up at 2300, have had it 6 weeks. This is what it says for my Vin... Little bit late.

I will call my dealer on Monday. I only see the injector issue under the "CSP" section in the app. I wonder if they wil give me a loaner. I do not have a real long trip planned until late June.

I wonder if there are any inspections that can be done on vehicles that have been out for a while. Is there something they can look for that says things are on the right path or you’re driving a ticking time bomb? And how invasive would the inspection have to be?
 
I called a service guy at the dealer (open on Saturday) and he knew nothing. He looked it up and said there was nothing he could do. They were not aware of any inspections (bore checking mentioned earlier).

I called Lincoln and she said parts are expected mid May. Lincoln called the dealer and the service manager will contact me Monday as I pressed for a loaner. I repeatedly said if Lincoln is telling dealers not to demo or sell then why should I drive mine. My concern is getting a new motor (which likely needs the parts as well) means more delay than a part.

I really like my Nautilus so not getting in the mood to get rid of it.

BTW, I do not see a shock absorber report for my vehicle.

Dealer will be hard pressed to give you a loaner for what is basically a working car. How long are you going to be away?
 
Interesting that it's only builds through Dec. That would imply the issue was addressed in later builds. Yet they've told us a while back a remedy was still being investigated. Perhaps that's when the torque spec was addressed?

No, it is not listed on mine. Just 24B09 and 24B23. Surely I'm one of the 6,686? For what it's worth, the issue is very hard for us to notice. Had I not known the issue existed, I may have never noticed it.
 
I just picked up my new 2024 Nautilus on Saturday and on Sunday it broke down with just under 100 miles. I had it towed to the dealer and was told it needed a new engine due to this problem. It is the 2nd car out of 12 sold by the dealer that had the same issue.

I believe many dealers are standing on the technicality that this isn't a "recall." It's a "customer service program" which only "recommended" that Hybrids are not delivered or demonstrated. To be charitable, it's poor form.

The fix is out. Why would the dealer have let you leave with the car without it being fixed? That's terrible service.

That doesn't mean that I have to pay them money and take the car. Just refuse.
 
The terms used in the forums and Facebook groups are what’s creating a lot of fear. “Recalls” “blow up”. There are no recalls to date and the engines don’t actually “blow” by any means. A blown engine has catastrophic internal damage that is beyond economical repair. In the case of the nautilus, the fuel injector tips may break and allow unmetered fuel into the cylinder and eventually hydro locking the engine. It could potentially bend a rod but with the RPM range for the hybrid motor it’s unlikely. The main reason for engine replacement is cylinder wall scoring caused by the injector tip. It would be repairable by bore sleeve replacement but Ford is not going to allow a repair like that at this time. You are also not guaranteed to have scoring or denting caused by the injector tip. In some cases the fuel is drained, oil changed and new injectors can be installed and your back on the road. It would suck no matter what to have it fail but the exaggeration online is making people really scared.

No question. Unfortunately, in today's world, reasoned opinion is ignored, and extremes are the only things that get press and public attention.

I believe that this whole situation is unfortunate, but it's also not an uncommon part of new model rollouts these days. And I believe that Lincoln has actually done a pretty good job in responding in a timely way. The big black marks are these stories of dealers knowingly delivering cars that could suffer catastrophic failures. You don't need a recall to issue a stop sale order. I've seen stop sales by BMW many times. The fact that Lincoln hasn't done that is where they really failed their customers imo.
