Hey 2022 GT owners, can your test your cabin noise with free app? Please!

I have a new 2022 Corsair GT that makes lots of cabin noise. Our local dealer does not have another GT to compare my readings. They tested our car and a 2022 Reserve model and found the GT has sound levels 10 to 20 times as loud as the Reserve. See the chart below. They checked and the ANC and all sound proofing materials are in place. They would like to get some more data to pursue this further.

Test Results
2022 Corsair GT gas engine - 76-80dB
2022 Corsair Reserve - 60-63dB
2021 Corsair Reserve - 61-63dB
2020 Corsair Reserve - 60-63dB

You can download the free app from the Apple store called NIOSH SLM.

Run Test at 40mph, both ways on the same road. Hold the phone near your ear level height - elbow on console, use cruise control to steady your speed and have the radio and heater/AC off. On the GT note results for both gas engine and electric engine. I have been using the demo Reserve and it is very noticeable how much quieter it is then our GT. Thanks so much for your help! Blessings, Kevin
Turned in my 2020 AWD 2.3L got my 2022 GT in January and the noise difference is DRAMATIC. So annoyed as the reason I went with any Corsair is when test driving small SUV's in 2020 the Corsair smashed the competition in things that matter very much to me, which is super quiet cabin, no engine/road noise and the cushy ride vs hard and sporty.

I am sure the missing engine cover contributes but it makes me feel like I am driving a low end vehicle when the engine has to turn on. Debating having tons of sound proofing done which is such a disappointment. I wonder if some of the door, firewall and other sound proofing items was also deleted as I just cannot believe the difference. :(

Sorry for the diatribe but I too am on android so would need another way to prove that which is obvious.

Let us know if this helps to lower engine noise. I was thinking of doing the same thing.
Please update us all as I am debating doing dynamat on hood too, let alone doing something to firewall, doors and underbody if need be. My 2020 AWD 2.3L Reserve was WISPER quiet compared to this 2022 GT loaded with every possible option that sounds like a struggling, droning low end vehicle.

On Android, you can go to the Play Store and find any number of different sound checkers/decibel meters. I use one called "Sound Meter" I can't speak to the accuracy, but it is useful in comparing different cars when I test drive them.

Thank you, I thought about that and I can do that for the 2022 but the 2020 is gone. Do you still want it for just the 2022?

Installed Android Decibel meter app per above suggestion: Ran around driving in PURE EV mode (averages about 70d+/-) in PRESERVE EV mode (averages about 78d+/-). Cannot compare to the 2020 any more sadly but as we can attest to there IS a major difference regardless.

My tires are the 20"option. My test driving was on a level asphalt road, there was no wind blowing. Drive mode selection was "Normal" with the engine running. In cruise control constant 40mph speed.
That right there can make a HUGE difference.

You can test drive a '20 version. Im curious as to how preserve is so loud. Is that engine or wind noise being measured? They arent the same.

I added dynamat to the hood of my ‘21 GT. Then reinstalled the factory liner.
My wife asked me why I was doing this “project” & I told her that I read that the engine was too loud.
Oh well.
It looks like you use the Dynamat Extreme product for the hood, is there a reason why you didn’t use the Dynaliner product (3/4” thick)? I was wondering if there is so much weight to the product that it wouldn’t allow the hood to stay open?

Thanks for all your help!

Actually I used their “superlite” product because I was thinking about the affect (or is it effect?) of added weight to hood. No difference in the hood open/close functionality with this stuff on now.
Initially considered that 3/4” approach but wanted to retain stock appearance & wasn’t sure how I would use the factory clips on the thicker material. Also thought that those edges would look a little raw after cutting & couldn’t decide how far I would want to extend it.
So just went with the blue superlite within the confines of the stock felt cover & reinstalled it after the application.
Hope that helps

A 45millas x hora.
Espero comprar el deflector del lado del conductor pienso que tendre mejores resultados.

You wrote “I think what made the noise level go down was when I installed the air deflector behind the fender on the passenger side”

Can you take a picture of this air deflector or what part number you used to buy It?
I’m not sure I understand what an air deflector is.

Thanks, Kevin

Thank you very much for your follow up we would call those mudflaps. I will pick up a set of those.

Did you install these? Doesn't look like these fit the GTs according to the internet.

No, I didn’t get or install these. I’m kind of done looking to quiet down the car.
There is another thread out about which mud flaps to buy and the modifications to install them.
