Help - Mystery Part Identification

Getting some initial general maintenance things down on my newly acquired 1997 Town Car Signature and dropped the transmission pan to change filter and fluid tonight and found this part floating in the fluid in the pan:

There is no appearance that this might have broken off a larger part and the hole in the end does not go all the way through, it just stops about 1/2 way down the large bulb end. I have reviewed the exploded diagram and don't see anything that looks like it but the drawing may not accurately represent. Hoping someone out there can help me out.

That just tells you the tranny has never been service at least not by dropping the pan. It's just an assembly plug from the factory that's meant to drop into the pan when the tranny is filled and first started.

Toss it and put it back together.
