The radio station I listen was discussing how several states are thinking about dropping the drinking age to 18. They are saying that having the drinking age at 21 hasn\'t prevented underage from drinking.

Personally I don\'t feel that kids are going to stop drinking underage if they don\'t change it but is could cause more hs underage drinking. I do feel that at 18 you are still more likely to conform still to peer pressures from other peers and be willing to purchase for their underage friends. Some 18 yo are still in hs and it could cause issues with schoolwork etc.

What is your opinions on the matter?
I started drinking at 12 or 13 years old. :naughty: I\'m not a 30 year old drunk today! I will be in October though hehe

I started drinking at 14, stopped just before 17, started again at 18. I don\'t drink much now. Not my point here though. Underaged drinking is going to happen. I think an 18 yo is more likely to buy for their friends that are in hs than a 21 yo would. I think that is will cause more underaged drinking to occur on a more regular basis.

I think at least if you are going to drop the drinking age, make it 19 to get the majority of these kids that are going to be legal to drink out of hs.

So you drank because you were nervous or because you thought they would think it was cool?

Hell with the way the education system is going...most of the kids are 21 when they graduate.

I downed about 1/3 a bottle of vodka once. Haven\'t touched it since, I also ended up in the hospital and could have died!

You shouldn\'t have to drink that much to make you less shy. Just hanging out with people you become less shy.

You\'re an idiot.

Take it from someone who\'s somewhat recovering.

You\'re an idiot.

Im not an alcoholic...never had a problem with drinking (except for that ONCE a year birthday party). Both my Grandfathers were, I have two Aunts that are...both my parents oddly never drank. If Im shy around people (it happens), I usually just observe their behavior and adapt to it. You tend to miss out on dates if your hugging the toilet because you couldnt suck it up and approach someone.

And I never understood drinking to forget your problems. Youve just added one more problem by constantly drinking. My ex husband learned that the hard way...he still drinks (last I heard) but not around me.

Social drinking is one thing.

like i said that was ONCE, never did that again, and i think if i hadnt puked i most likely would have been in a hospital, plus it helped i was drinking the vodka with lemonade
i know it was stupid, but me being freshman, didnt want the junior girls to think i was a wimp, blah blah i was dumb, and one of the girls that was there(there was only 2) was my friend that was killed in a drunk driving accident. So i dont drink except a little, and only if im home
