Got My New Lincoln Home !!!

I drove my new to me 2006 Lincoln Town Car Palm Beach Edition car home yesterday ,it was an eight hour drive.
The first half of the drive I was cruising at 75 mph,or 120 kph,and it’s a very hilly road,and I kicked it down a couple of times.
She got 22 US mpg,or 26 Imperial mpg,which I thought was pretty good for a 4400 lb car.
It’s not 100 % perfect,there are a couple of minor issues.
I noticed that when you turn the heated mirrors on,the radio turns to static and you can’t hear it.
The selector switch for the remote mirrors seems to be getting worn when you go to adjust the right side mirror.It still works,but doesn’t feel quite right.
And some of the under hood insulation has been chewed,probably by a rodent,the gentleman I bought it from said it was like that when he bought it.
He added a true dual exhaust and a fresh air intake.

A successful adventure!

Before going crazy on RA and salvage yard parts get yourself the correct factory service manuals first. All the info to solve problems is there and Ford built these cars like tanks so its not hard to fix.

The steering wheel temperature up/down button doesn’t work
I can’t get the park aid to work

The first one is likely due to dirt or debris in the steering wheel or switch.
The second one is likely dues to a poor connection.

The above is a guess. To take the guess work out a diagnosis should be done.
That will require a test light (or meter) and the wiring diagram.
I always pick up a factory shop manual and wiring diagram. I prefer hard copy. And both hard copy and electronic versions are available on the net. Typically eBay.

IDK what a park aid is so cannot help you there. Steering wheel control malfunctions on just about any vehicle is due to a bad connection either at the button itself or where the wiring rubs against a bracket along the steering column for 10+ years.

I’ve been busy the last couple of days.
I gave her a really good wash job and used some Meguires vinyl and rubber cleaner/protector on the half vinyl roof.
It cleaned up pretty good,although there’s still some black spots that don’t want to come out.
Then I waxed and buffed the rest of the car,the paint isn’t 100 % perfect,but for a twenty year old car it’s not bad.
I gave the wheels a quick polish and they cleaned up nicely.
The interior was pretty clean so I gave it a quick wipe down.
I bought it with only one key and fob,so I had a gentleman who specializes in this come to my house and make me two new keys and fobs.
I’m slowly getting it to where I want it.

Yesterday I went to the mall parking lot and calibrated the compass,first making sure it was in the right zone,which is # 12.That was pretty easy,only had to make 3 circles.
I went for a short drive and showed my 82 year old hot rod buddy Bill the Lincoln.
He was very impressed with the condition and how good it looked,he was especially impressed with the wheels.
I also have the original purchase agreement from May 10 2006,so I called the dealer it came from,Maroone Lincoln Mercury in Lake Park Florida.The number was no longer in service,so I guess that maybe they are no longer in business.
I also called the original owner,Doris M Rainbow in Greenacres,which I’m assuming is also in Florida.That number has been disconnected.According to her date of birth on the invoice,she would have been 78 when she bought this car.So maybe she has passed away,or moved.
I find it odd that even though this car came with the Palm Beach Edition that it doesn’t have every option.theres no moon roof,heated seats,seating memory switch,better stereo system or the rear seat climate control.
So maybe this was the base package,with a dealer add on to make it the Palm Beach Edition that,which looks like a trim package with the half vinyl roof and the chrome trim along the side and white pinstripes
But,that stuff isn’t really that important to me,although the memory system for the seats would have been nice.
Anyhow,I’m enjoying it for now,although it will be going to winter storage here in Nova Scotia sometime in November.

As you surmised, it was simply a Lincoln dealership add-on package, which one or more Florida dealerships installed on any trim level Town Car (or other model) they wanted to, from base to top of the line.

Being a dealership add-on, they could have named it anything they wanted (i.e. the “Gulf Coast Edition”, the “Lake Okeechobee Edition” etc.) since it had nothing to do with Lincoln/Ford. Other Florida dealerships likely had their own “Limited Editions”.

As you stated, the “limited editions” often consisted of some sort of dealer installed half or full vinyl roof, chrome or other shiny trim, badges, pinstripes, maybe different wheels etc.

There are many similar “limited edition” Lincolns from dealerships all over the country. They are most often Town Cars and Continentals.

I remember seeing a Buick Lesabre,probably an 80’s model,with the Palm Beach Package at a car show a few years ago.
I’m sure that was probably the same deal as mine,just a different car brand.
Anyhow,it is an eye catcher for sure.
I’ve been getting lots of compliments and “thumbs up” from people
I was just at my buddy’s shop and he let me put it on his four post hoist.
It’s in very decent condition underneath,the only thing that jumped out was the mufflers are starting to get rusty.
You can tell that it’s never been driven on salt covered roads although the gentleman who I bought it from said he had driven it a little bit in the winter.
