Has anyone else had trouble with these tires on brand new car that they cant get them balanced properly and had to replace with less than 3000 miles?

“Unfortunately”, mine are not much past the half way ware mark at 54k miles. I dislike them greatly in our adverse wintery weather here in Michigan. Wife has been pushing to keep them until they need replacement. I am thinking Michelin CC2’s this spring and forgetting about them.

That said, ware has been even with regular tire rotations. They certainly last a long time. They are otherwise fine in non-winter weather.

I notice some vibration and noise when bought but dealer said drive a bit and see if goes away and bring back if not . Took vehicle back at 1200 miles to have checked. Was told 2 tires were defective and they would order. Two tires were replaced at 1500 miles. Again, still had a vibration but drove a while to see if went away. It did not so took to a local shop in hometown to see if they could roadforce balance. They said something was wrong with the tires as far as material or out of round or something as they could not balance. So took back to dealer for them to try and they could not balance the tires to spec and said they would replace the other two also. They replaced and said they were balanced . There was still noise and vibration in steering wheel and seat. Took back to dealer. Was told techs didnt hear or feel anything . Service advisor told me he did feel vibration in seat when driving as I rode with him. Dealer said all they could do was supply labor and replace tires at my expense. since they were replaced once under limited warranty. So being fed up and tired of driving to dealer and sitting , as almost impossible to get a loaner, while nothing changed I took back to shop in hometown to get replaced with Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires. I also had them check balance before removing tires. Not all were balanced and there were multiple split weights on same side of rims, and some on both sides. I was told this can create balance issues at differant speeds and whoever(dealer) balanced was having a hard time. New tires were installed and balanced properly and finally got smooth ride I expected, although at an extra expense at 3200 miles. I was told by Lincoln I could contact Goodyear and see if they would do anything. But I doubt they would be interested since replaced with Michelin. I just didnt want to chance anymore of same tire after having problems with 2 sets in 3200 miles. Not sure what date code was on originals but second set replaced were 2024 tires. I really do like the car though and most everything else about it. I have always had some sort of harmonic noise on drivers side but not on passenger. I seem to be only one who hears it so will see what happens.

That is so very strange! I can only say we have never had any of the issues you have had (even though I don’t like the tires in bad weather). They are quiet, smooth, and no vibrations. That said, it sounds like your newer Michelins solved the problem, yet the chances of getting two bad batches of the same tire seem unlikely too.

Sorry you had to go through all that hassle, and particularly the extra expense. My goodness! On the flip side, you have tires I want to step up to, and those will be excellent ones to have!

Yes I agree that would be highly unlikely but I could happen. Especially if all the tires similar date codes. I dont think dealer would have not replaced and said they did either. It may have been just a terrible balancing job too but glad its done.
