Front coil spring swap for 98 Town Car.

Hello everybody, I have a 98 Town Car and I'm toying with the idea of swapping out the front coil springs for a little softer ones (perhaps from an older model) but I have no idea where to begin I know nothing about Springs or spring rates or rebound rates or anything like that, anybody have any suggestions as to what my next move should be? as I said before I know nothing about coil springs only that I would like to try a little bit softer ones for up front, any advice anybody could give me would be greatly appreciated.
