Forum Search option?

Is there a way to search the forums? I thought maybe ad blocker made it invisible, and I turned that off, but I am something like 40 page views short? I never realized, I thought you could just turn it off. In any case, if there is forum general search, or to search within specific, does anyone know how?

Thanks... not seeing it, just a bell, an email (direct messages) icon, and my profile name. Well I actually turned ad blocker off for now. on this site. Eventually I may get back to unblocked status and see if search appears... I've never seen a counting anti-adblocker before...

I've been blocked from search and other features here too, when I upgraded my ad blocker and it blocked this site's ads.

You just need to get past the number of "clear page views" the site wants, then you'll be able to search, see the attachments other members post, and do anything else you might be blocked from doing right now.

What browser? On your phone or on a PC?

I run DNS-based ad blocking on both my Samsung Android phone (adaway) and Windows PC (Hosts Man, using the same block lists, essentially, as Adaway, using the Chrome browser. As previously mentioned, in either mobile or desktop mode you should see the Search magnifying glass on the upper right corner.

These screenshots are both from my phone, one in Mobile mode, the other set to Desktop. The Desktop version is the one where you see my Avatar, our dog Bear using a tablet

When you do see the search option, there is a drop-down list to select the search scope: Everywhere, Threads, This Forum (whatever forum area you are presently in), This Thread (if you're calling the search up while reading a thread), and there's a separate field if you just want the search to look at posts from a certain member.

Thanks. I just browsed 40 threads to get my adblock count down, then search appeared. In past I would turn off adblock and all functionality came back in a page or two. Not sure if new, but it counts your pages with blocks I think, and you need to "catch up". TBD if I will stay on this forum. I never set off ad blocker anywhere, but will see how obnoxious the ads are here if I leave it off.

FYI I us ghostery. not sure why I have a problem, and you do not, unless the adblockers operate differently.

You could try whitelisting the site in ghostery.

Alternately, you could go into ghostory observed activities, unblock items, then refresh, until the search option shows (a more fine-grained approach, though personally I'd probably whitelist it).
