FORScan User's Thread

Hi Guys, I purchased Forscan and have not been able to communicate with my 98 Mark VIII using cheap scan tools. Any ideas?
thanks

How much do you suggest we spend to change a single feature on one car?
I don't mind spending as much as necessary to get good OBD2 communications. I'm not actually wanting to change ANYTHING, I just want to get a scan tool screen confirming that I have communication with OBD2 and a listing if anything is not copacetic. If I need to spend 25, 50, $100 or more, no problem but I don't want to buy and try.

I doubt that ForScan would be applicable to your 98', (I also have a 98' mark). The (com) protocols are different I believe. I could be wrong, further research needed.
For my 98 Mark, I use an older Foxwell NT, with the Ford software package loaded. It works fine, older version, have had it for over 5 years. It gives full OB2 diagnostics. Only glitch is that it will not auto-recognize the vehicle VIN #. I need to manually put the VIN in at scanner startup. Many good OBD scanners out there these days under $200.

Steve C. In this car the PCM is out for a PATS delete. The fellow that did the work said my PCM communicated with his programs, powers and grounds. I'm anxious to see if it will start now. I have a 1 year FORSCAN that expires this weekend. I have buyed and tryed 3 cheapo scan tools, nothing would connect. Possibly because the SCIL or ignition switch antenna was not happy that the car sat in a barn for 15 years without running. Also when I bought the car it only had one key so the locksmith supposedly made me a 2nd key. Not sure how he did it without getting the OBD DLC to communicate. Back to the FORSCAN, I bought the OBDl EX and a ELM327 adapter. neither would connect. if the DLC would just talk it would make it easier. My understanding was that the 98 Mark is the first Mark to have a functioning OBD2?? BTW, I'm Steve C also, Mark8misery on this site. Thanks

Forscan new version 2.3.61 dated 07/18/2024 just loaded & can see my 2023 Nautilus now!! ID's the cars VIN, engine, & listed 38 modules>notes says should list 2024 also

This is great news! Been so long, I need to refresh myself and go back on my notes to get it up & running!
Thanks for posting the new version! Nice to have a Forscan Guru here on the Lincoln site to get all interested up & running!
Thanks Mike!

M8misery, moving this over to Mk VIII forum....CU there if you want to continue discussion!

FYI, even the las build, 2.3.6, is working on the 24 Nautilus. I didn't go too far into it but did make a test change enabling the Auto Lock on/off toggle in settings. Worked as it should. Next I'd like to enable in settings the ability to turn off the lane keeping haptic alert in the steering wheel. Currently the only options are alert only which is haptic and alert and assist which not only has the wheel feedback but also steers you back between the lines. So you can shut off the assist but not the alert. I would like it all off if I can find it. I think I found a plain english change that will accomplish this in the APIM but haven't tried it yet...

If you have a moment to see if you can add the tachometer to the hybid models please.

I have the current version of FORScan and the OBDLinkEX that I'm trying to use on my 2020 Lincoln Corsair. I'm trying to find the value for the temperature setting for the air recirculate button and change the value to NEGATIVE. I want to stop the annoyingly stupid feature that Ford\Lincoln programmed in to disable the recirculated air any time the temperature falls below 16 C\61 F. Do y'all have any suggestions\guidance as to where to find this value?

I have a 2021 Nautilus. I just downloaded Forscan for the first time this week. When I connect to my vehicle APIM is not a listed module for me either.

What version of forscan did you download? Other posters above report V 2.3.61 works on later model Nauts'...see Miked51 post #46

I just revisited the Forscan site, I see it has been updated from the 7/18/24 v2.3.61

May 16, 2025 - FORScan for Windows version 2.3.66 is released
Vehicle database update, improved support for Ford/Lincoln vehicles of 2024-2025 model years. Added Curl Internet API library, to avoid Windows Internet API problems on old versions of Windows. Added new connection setting to confirm vehicle identification and correct/change it if necesary. New configuration and service functions, fixes, improvements.

I am curious to see if my 2023 Nautilus has a trailer tow module despite not having the trailer tow package. It sits over the left rear behind the cargo panel near the tailgate. I do not think it does. I believe FoMoCo uses a jumper/bypass plug in the harness where the trailer module would connect to. I have a borescope, hoping to sneak a look at what is behind the panel without having to remove it!
A tech at an indy shop I am friendly with offered to get my module network assignments printed out for me if I give him my VIN. Needless to say, I am going to give it a shot! I hope to get the new 2.3.66 Ver. ForScan downloaded in the meantime.

Is there any way to use FORScan to enable connectivity features—such as Wi-Fi, modem access, Google services, and navigation —on a non-U.S. 2024 Lincoln Nautilus from the GCC region, where Google services are disabled by default?

Possibly. Youll need to verify that the correct hardware is even there to start with. Then I would go to Google, find a dealership in the U.S. and search their online inventory to find a Nautilus of the same year and trim that you have. Go to www.motorcraftservice.com/asbuilt and copy the VIN number from the vehicle you found online and use that one to get access to that vehicle's as built data. After backing up your current vehicles As Built information, use the new data to flash the modules, and see if that enables the options. Of course, if the modules arent even present, than its all a wash anyway without first obtaining them and installing them in the vehicle first. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Same reply as the other thread where the question was asked - be careful about trying to flash potentially US-specific firmware for international use (make sure you also have a set of the original files found on your car in case things go sideways).

Point well taken. You need to have your original files the module is equipped with backed up before you start tweaking that module.
If you end up screwing it up, Lincoln will not cover restoration under warranty!

Thanks for the detailed reply — that’s exactly the path I’ve been following. I have a 2024 Lincoln Nautilus (GCC version) and I already used motorcraftservice.com to download the AS-BUILT data from a matching US vehicle (same trim and year). I then used FORScan to back up all of my original module configurations and compared them to the US spec. Most modules had the same firmware and values, with some differences in regional bytes. What’s interesting is that ever since I purchased the car last year, whenever I perform a factory reset on the APIM, I briefly see hidden features like SiriusXM, Rejuvenate Mode, and Wi-Fi Hotspot appear — but they disappear after a few seconds, even with stock configuration and before making any FORScan edits. This strongly suggests that the system disables them dynamically based on region, VIN, or backend provisioning. Later on, I tried enabling Navigation Center by adjusting 7E0-163-04 (e.g., using value D9), but that didn’t have any lasting effect. It seems the hardware does support these features, but they remain locked unless certain conditions are met. Just wanted to share this in case others are trying the same — I’d love to hear from anyone who’s managed to get these features working long-term on a non-US vehicle.
