Forscan Programming of Default Drive Mode

Has anyone had any luck using Forscan to change the default drive mode to "Conserve" rather than "Normal" on a 2023 Aviator? If so, what coding did you modify to accomplish this?

Probably not possible with Forscan, at least no one has found the option or code yet. I also have a 2020 Mustang GT and not being able to set the default drive mode to other than "Normal" is a point of contention with most owners. I prefer the Sport+ or Track mode but one must change from the normal setting after startup. Same for the Aviator, I prefer the Excite mode but there is no way to select which mode is the default mode in Forscan and, trust me, the Mustang guys have been looking for years. I read somewhere that it's that why by design as every car has EPA regulations for MPG and emissions they must meet, and under "Normal" mode the cars meet those standards. Unfortunately, making the Sport+ mode in my 'stang or the Excite mode in the Aviator the default mode would result in the vehicles not meeting those government mandated standards. I have no doubt the manufacturers would love to give owners the option, but alas, Uncle Sammy has the final say.

I'm not sure that it's impossible to be changed via FORSCAN - I think it's just that no one has yet figured out how.

I highly doubt the Feds try and force the ECU/TCU/ubiquitous CUs to be locked down. I highly doubt they deem individual owners' hacking as a threat to CAFE standards being met. If that's the case, no one would be able to hook anything up to any one of the processors in the car and change diddly.

Defeating the auto-stop feature (as I did via FORSCAN) is no different since I've taken away an ever-so-slight (but likely measurable) difference in mileage.

I believe the evolution of the all the Control Unit programming is to enable the same vehicle/platform to be made for many different country, state, or regional requirements without having different hardware (different hardware, like switches and the like is expensive). Simply using programming is a cheap way to make a car 'different' rather than build different to the different country requirements. FORSCAN is simply an aftermarket 'hack' tool of sorts that enables us to go and change the programming that I don't believe Uncle Sam worries about happening at the owner level.
