Is it possible that it just comes from an exhaust leak?
My Continental had about 4-5 inches of weld missing on the middle muffler that is exactly beneath the drivers seat. Find my first posted thread, photos and explanations are there.
It was manufacturing defect, it could be clearly seen that the weld on the side seam just stopped several inches shorter before one of the corners of the muffler.
Muffler shop fixed it in under a minute welding.
At 19k miles it was somethimes present and somethimes gone. At ~25k miles it was evident from startup. The car was quiet under cruising, louder at acceleration.
