My Lincoln
2024 Corsair GT
Meh. My problem with the Corsair is that it’s too darn small. Glad to see it go. It cheapens the Lincoln brand IMHO.

It looks like it days are numbered based on the report from FordAuthority. They report it will be replaced by an BEV. See link to story.
OR will it just be a third vehicle to be manufactured there?

Wow, it's always something. Thanks for this information, ArizonaJon. But my take on the article is that there are still too many unknowns out there for anyone to know exactly what is going to happen. Personally, I'm not going to worry about it.

I am with you. The title of the web site is for click bait.

As I expect my next new buy (current is 2023 Corsair GT) to be an EV, I see this as good news except for the China part. I don't really understand what's going on with Ford /China; I fear this means my next vehicle will be Toyota even though I've not been without a Ford since my 1975 Mustang.

The Corsair was a nice car, but can’t compete with Japanese and other contenders at Lincoln’s asking price. Far too many plastics in this vehicle, and the Lincoln target market is not a big market to begin with. Now it’s all watch our Lincoln values Plumbing through the floor. Might as well hang onto them till the wheels fall off.

Thats why I bought the Corsair the SECOND time. Same with the MKZ. American manufacturers always fail to follow the Asian manufacturers in this one thing: Incremental gains. The Accord, Camry, Rav4, etc just get better. Stop playing the name games and work the product line. I think the Corsair IS a great value, even in GT form. yes, both my Corsairs (totaled the first one the day before my birthday) were $60k plus, but meet my needs and requirements. I can drive this SUV until Jesus comes back lol.

The Corsair will most likely live on as an EV. The name brand recognition is very high.

Idk it’s their best selling Lincoln and for a while it was recommended car by consumer reports. If they could improve on the quality I always said it has a shot at the top spot !

I read the article a couple times & wasn’t seeing how their comments about new contract really equated to days being limited for Corsair.
Too much “possible, could & likely“ to worry about.

“The new Ford and UAW contract is set to run through the end of April 2028, so it’s possible that production for each of these models could likely end at some point before that date, too.”

I think Ford will do a 25' model year. Cant replace 20-30k sales/year with an EV off the bat. Maybe the '28 will be total electric. Good thing is the raw cost has dropped like 25-40% this year. Tesla, VW, and other manufacturers keep showing us you cant start off building that many, as capacity has to be built with infrastucture. Here is some basic data to look at.

Here are the BEV totals we have from the past 4 years for the US market:

  • 2022 — 762,883
  • 2021 — 462,247
  • 2020 — 245,586
  • 2019 — 230,761
Here are the Tesla totals for the US market:

  • 2022 — 510,058
  • 2021 — 356,984
  • 2020 — 204,274
  • 2019 — 186,636
* Ford's fiscal year begins on Jan 1 and ends on Dec 31. Every year, Ford's sales of EVs in the U.S. were none in fiscal 2020. However, two years later, in fiscal 2022, Ford sold slightly over 61,000 battery electric vehicles, up 127% over 2021.Oct 28, 2023
