Whats the brake in process on the engine?
 
Its in your manual. Search for "break in", If I remember correctly, it is for the 1st 1000 miles. It is on Page 232 of my manual.
 
What does the Aviator manual say? This is what the Navigator manual says about breaking in.

"Avoid driving too fast during the first 1,000 mi

(1,600 km). Vary your speed frequently and

change up through the gears early. Do not

labor the engine.

Do not tow during the first 1,000 mi

(1,600 km)."

Hi MNA. As rjabend mentioned, the break-in procedure is listed in the Owners Manual. Look in the Index under "Breaking-In" for the correct pages in your copy.

And as Black Label mentioned, the break-in procedure is the same for all current Lincoln passenger vehicles. Don't drive too fast for the first 1,000 miles. vary speed for the first 1,000 miles. In other words, if you are taking a long trip, do not drive the entire way at one constant speed. A good rule of thumb is to try and vary speed by at least 10 mph every 10 minutes or so. And do not tow for the first 1,000 miles.

Also, on a related note: Lincoln passenger vehicles do not come with a "break-in oil" from the factory. The factory fill is the same Motorcraft Synthetic Blend oil that is used for Dealership oil changes. So there is no reason to change the oil very early, unless you feel better doing so. Some people prefer to, others do not. Do it if you wish. it is completely up to you.

Hi Peter. Not sure if you are joking or not (due to the winking emoji). However, if you are serious, that is incorrect. The factory oil fill for both US and Canadian vehicles is the exact same Motorcraft Synthetic Blend oil.

Below is the oil "Name" for the US and Canada, directly copied and pasted from the 2022 Aviator Owners Manual:

"Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil(U.S.)
Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Super Premium Motor Oil / Huile moteur de très haute
qualité SAE 5W-30 Motorcraft®(Canada)
XO-5W30-Q1SP(U.S.)
CXO-5W30-LSP6(Canada)"

And the oil "Specification" (copied and pasted) is the exact same one for US and Canadian vehicles: "WSS-M2C961-A1".

The confusion occurs because in the US it is labeled "Motorcraft Synthetic Blend oil". In Canada, it is labeled "Motorcraft Super Premium Motor Oil".
However, as you can see, it is the same synthetic blend oil sold by Motorcraft, with the exact same specification, only different names.

Yes, the specification Names/descriptors look different due to it being two different countries with different regulations for names/descriptors. However, the actual oil in the bottle/jug is the exact same specification Motorcraft Synthetic Blend oil. The containers are filled with the same oil, only different names on the bottle.
Simply a different name on the bottle/jug for the Canadian market.

All current US/Canadian passenger vehicles produced by Lincoln/Ford come factory filled with Motorcraft Synthetic Blend motor oils.
I'm not even sure there are many/any conventional motor oils (all that is left if not filled with synthetic blend or full synthetic oils) which will meet Lincoln/Ford specifications.

So, we all agree. Canadians are getting hosed, eh, and we should all brake in our cars with smooth, steady driving.

Hi rjabend. There is no difference. Lincoln/Ford passenger vehicles in the US and Canada all come factory filled with Motorcraft Synthetic Blend Motor Oil.
It is simply a different descriptor name in each market for the same specification, synthetic blend oil, packaged for and sold by Motorcraft.

In other words, "Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil" sold in the US...and "Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Super Premium Motor Oil" sold in Canada...are the same specification, synthetic blend motor oils. Only different names for the different countries/markets.

Off Topic: Just wondering if gas prices are as bad in Canada. I don't think you have all the dumb US policies that have been put in place.

Looked it up online. There are a host of factors affecting 🇨🇦 prices.

But, again, the OP has not come back to even read the replies given, according to the status when you click on the username. So, what difference does it make? Anyone should be able to find the index in the Owners Manual and get this information. Or, one could call Lincoln, a dealership, any number of ways to get the solution, and then respond accordingly.

I have gotten to where I don't try to help on threads where it is the person's first post because they just usually are troll posts. This poster has been a member since February with 40+ posts but has not had the courtesy to come back when several of us have tried to help.

It makes a difference when you are doing a Search for "break-in" using "Search titles only" as the search criteria.
