Hello, 2014 mkt. To change the complete mirror assembly, driver side, how do i do that? Do i need to remove door panel?
Thanks

I dont think u have to remove the door assembly. I had mine replaced. They did not have to remove the door assembly. Curious, why are you changing your assembly?

The reason I ask, I have had it replaced because it kept vibrating at highway speeds, although, after replacing, its doing the exact same thing now. I gave up for now.

I was told it needs to remove door panel, its the complete mirror. Its broken the case, thats why.

Since it’s mounted to the door skin, the interior door panel needs removed.
Now I think my mirror was never replaced and hence I see the same issue. I have given up on that issue though.

Did the dealer have to order the part? How long did it take? If they replaced the whole mirror, prep and paint time would need figured in, unless the dealer can order one pre-painted.

The dealer did order the entire mirror assembly. Also, they gave me the car back as it would be almost 3 days to reach them and 1 day for paint match to the car. They do not get the mirror painted. I most likely do beleive the mirror was changed. I did see that my original mirror has a blemish on the bottom which was not there on the new mirror (or else they were super shady and awesome at fixing the blemish!) I cant tell a difference as it never changed my problem. Also, they were done with the mirror replacement within an hour.

It shouldn’t take much to physically change it. Remove door card, and there’s probably 3 nuts and a wiring harness that needs undone. It’s probably really a 20 minute job, at most.

Sounds easy, i saw like screws around the panel, side and bottoms. Those are all the screws?

Honestly, I’m not sure. I haven’t had a reason to take mine apart. I’d imagine they’re all right behind the base of the mirror on the inside of the door. I’m guessing window has to be the whole way up, or you might have to dismount and remove the glass to gain access.

I've given up on mine too even though if I turn up the music I can make it vibrate lol. That's telling me there's not enough insulating material for the mirror or the material used to insulate the mirror from the car is insufficient -or - the mirror itself has something different about it's isolation characteristics because it's not a convex mirror (like the right-hand side is).

I have seen the MKC and MKX loaners do this exact thing as well! Heck the funniest thing was, I got a loaner 2019 Volvo XC60 which was doing the same thing but a little less terrible.! Just drive fast enough that you dont have to use it other than for merging into the highway.. !
