Door Module Problems

My 97 Cartier hasn't been working with the locking door, powered seats, and keyless entry after founding it was the door module I purchased one local junk yard it still doesn't work before spending more money on one from ebay .I was looking online and found out that I can't just replace it with just any 96-97 town cars module it has to be the specific trim level as mine. My question is that true and if so what happens if I can find one to replace it with is there any alternative or I'm I SOL. Please help. Trunk is currently open can't close it.
