Cracked intake manifold replacements

My car is having its intake manifold replaced (04 signature) with over 229k original miles. Next time theres an issue does anyone know of an all aluminum replacement for it that isnt at all made of plastic as some engines have upgraded versions. The default design is an aluminum front cross member and plastic housing but I'd prefer an all aluminum design if available for the 4.6 2v. If you know any sources please let me know. Thanks.

There was a previous all aluminum version but they aren't common and likely not a straight fwd swap if you can find one. There are aluminum aftermarket ones but they likely aren't ideal for a stock motor either, but they exist. For a price.
The ford motorsports stock replacement will likely outlast the rest of the car. Use the upgraded felpro gaskets, summit racing has both.

Best option is Ford OEM. It'll last you over 10 years. Do NOT use Dorman. They have been known to have fitment and manufacturing issues as well as decreasing horsepower. Dorman usually last 5 - 6 years.

Crap, mechanic is already swapping in the dorman I bought. Next time I will have to consult my pals on this forum and not anywhere else on the internet where they're all oozing with joy at the prospect of dorman. Dorman this and dorman that yada yada yada yada yada. Yawn.

Dorman is one of those parts brands you don't need unless you are stuck out in the boondocks somewhere and need to get home.

Dorman can be fine for many non mission critical parts.
They aren't the preferred source for this part though.

Just bought a 2010 Town car with only 32000 miles. Knowing the problems with intakes. I just bought an oem intake. I luckily work for a Ford dealership. I knew that there was a back order for them and fortunate to get one. There is over 3300 on back order. The price has doubled in price in over 6 months. Ford is gouging prices. If you plan on keeping your car, I would get one if you can.

Same here. I also work for a Ford dealer and was able to get one and did mine about 2 years ago.

$264 in 2017 to $312 now, but on backorder, at Summit Racing. Sounds about like as much as everything else has gone up lately.
The estimated ship date is January of 2024 lol.

Being aluminum they should in theory last forever, might be hard to find one that isn't too radical for a stock engine.

Just keep in mind, these are all just opinions mixed with limited personal experience. Until I see some controlled testing of a Dorman product compared to an OEM or other reputable manufacturer this is all just hear-say, in my opinion. Your Dorman manifold could last 10 years, or it could last 2 years, but so could an OEM part, in that way it's all a crap shoot

The OEM was about $100 more than the Dorman when I re-did my 1997 Town Car in 2012. Ford advised me (parts counter guy) to go with an OEM as they had a case where they installed a Dorman then had to change it out for an OEM. The failure in the original was they used plastic for the cooling crossover pipes at the front of the manifold then to add insult to injury it had inserts in the plastict for mounting bolts for the alternator assembly. The OEM replacement is aluminum only on the cooling pipes the rest is plastic but as a previous poster pointed out the OEM replacement will comfortably outlast the car. Mine has worked great for 11 years.

I bought an SKP branded one, been using for the last 5 years without a problem. Paid about $70 for it. Ford can eat an intake before I'd buy one from them.
