Could ask the AI but sometimes I think it is wrong. About the motion function and the horn...

If I do not answer the motion sensor question when I shut down the car, does it go by default to "on"?

If that is true, does the motion zone include any area outside of the car and does the car give an audible if motion is detected? If yes, would that be a single blast from the horn?

Hi gfdublin. It is an interior motion sensor only.

What exactly does the message state when you shut off the vehicle? It will be easier to answer your question if you post the exact wording of the message. Or check the Owners Manual for the correct information.

An off the top of my head guess? For safety and liability purposes, it probably defaults to motion sensor “ON”. But that is just an educated guess.

Keep us updated and good luck.

I may be out of line, but I'm going to presume it's the same operation in theory as my Navigator.

The default is "ON" and means it will detect INTERIOR motion.

I left our dog in the Navigator parked in front of the restaurant once (with the windows partially down of course) and was soon hearing a typical car horn alarm along with flashing park lamps from the Navigator. Recognizing it was me, I cancelled the alarm and went about our quick lunch.

Lesson learned... after confirmation from the manual, you can turn it off at the prompt before you exit the vehicle or you can turn it off in the vehicle settings and it does NOT include any area outside the car.

I appreciate the replies. This is why I asked...

Last night I was awakened by a single horn blast from a car. We live in the country in a group of some 18 homes spread out in a wooded setting. We are not far apart, but not nearly as close as in a subdivision. Most of these lots are at a minimum, one acre, and some are 2-3 acres. So a close-by horn blast out here is extremely rare. I jumped out of bed and checked the garage; all the doors were closed and locked, but the motion lights on the outside of the garage were on. No other signs of activity. A squirrel might have tripped the lights. Then I wondered if a squirrel or person might have moved by the window on the side wall of the garage where I park the Nautilus. I considered that it might be possible that the motion sensor in the Naut might have been triggered. Now I think that's a stretch. DW thinks the horn sound originated in a dream, but I am certain it did not. Unless it happens again, I probably won't know the answer.
