My Lincoln
2021 Corsair
I have have had my 2021 Corsair for almost 5k mile. In that time I have HATED the way it drives in the city and low speeds. The dealer said it was some feedback thi gy, wich I had replaced. That did help as it turned out what seemed a transmission problem was really and engine. But it only semi fixed it.

But lately I have been putting the car into Conserve mode and I can not believe how much better the thing drives in that.

So now I have to add that ti the things I change each time I get in the car.

I agree that it seems to shift better in conserve mode.

Circling back around because I just can n ot believe how much better the car drives in "conserve" !!!!!!

Almost makes me believe the programming between normal and conserve are switched

Interesting. When I remember I switch to Conserve in the hope it really improves mpg but I don't notice any difference at all.

Perhaps an aggressive driver would notice a difference?

I am not talking about mpg at all. The car just drives smoother in conserve than normal

I've found a small gain in MPG with conserve mode, and agree with DonL that the car drives much smoother. It uses higher gears in conserve mode, so not as zippy. I've tested this while using the cruise control on neighborhood streets (25mph) and if switching to "excite" it will automatically downshift without a change in speed, when switching back to conserve it will upshift. I also feel it is taking off from a stop in 2nd gear while in conserve and slippery modes versus 1st in excite.

I tested conserve mode yesterday on a long drive with highway and city streets. Not only is the transmission less detectable shifting (cruise control resume getting back up to set speed doesn't set you back in the seat as much as normal mode) but I found the ride to be smoother too. "Smoother" in that rides like my other larger Lincolns while at the same time not a lumbering feeling. I think I'll continue to use conserve as part of my start up routine from now on.

Cruise control resume is smoother because the car is using a higher gear where it just gradually gets back up to speed. The more I use Conserve, the more I like it for everyday use.

I don't know how people know what gear their Corsair is in. I haven't noticed any change in MPG, cruise control, or anything ese other than the smoother shifting. I now do the mode change after stating the car while the car boots up and I can turn the auto stop/start off.

Drive mode displays in the instrument cluster, unless it’s in normal mode.

I have now gone through a tank of gas driving on conserve mode. I don't think it saves any gas, in fact it seems the mpg isn't as good. But I will pay that for the better city driving and reduced bucking!

Sounds to me like either you drive absurdly aggressively or your vehicle is broken. I've no such symptoms ftom my 2023 GT.

Conserve mode mpg should be slightly better though, depending on how one drives, probably by so little a controlled experiment would be required to be certain.

While driving in the city, I find Conserve mode drives better if you’re really easy on the gas pedal.

That being said, I use Excite more in really urban settings and need to really scoot and avoid the other drivers. I can definitely feel the added throttle reaction and shift points, compared to Conserve — say, when trying to merge onto the highway.

I tend to use Conserve mode mostly on the highway now, even with traffic jams, and adaptive cruise control. Definitely some improvements in my fuel economy, broadly seen from my mileage tracking

I am glad I found this thread. I started using Conserve recently, and I, too, feel like I've got a smoother ride now. Not too worried about mileage anyway.

I too like conserve mode because the radar cruise control acceleration is much more relaxed when it decides to speed up. What I don't like is the meter power display of regen, ICE and EV is not displayed. I like to nerd out watching these things as driving progresses. I use the regen one to try and limit the application of the friction breaks when stopping, try to keep it less then 200 Kw. Anyone know of a way to make conserve look like normal in regards to the power meter?

MPG in conserve in our car is so slight I don't use it.
Just mine?
