When you first turn on your headlights (in the dark), HID's will give a very brief, very bright flash that halogens don't do. If your headlights are pointed at something close like a garage door, it should be noticeable.
Can anybody tell from this picture if I have Halogens or HID’s?

Only the model years 2003 and later had the optional HID headlamps.

Yes, I have been impressed so far with the factory HIDs! I expected night driving to be a lot worse than my 22 Lexus, but that hasn't been the case.Whatever the cost, the HID's are worth it. They are quite good.
