Cabin air filter replacement?

Anybody replaced their cabin air filter yet? I was trying to do mine and I think I broke part of the glove compartment. I pressed in the two tabs and pulled it but I broke off the slow close mechanism. There didn't seem to be anyway, even after looking at it, to release it.
Also when I looked at the cabin air filter, it wasn't immediately obvious how to release the air filter itself. There were two tabs I flipped up (broke one of those too) and there appeared to be screws missing from the sides.

Over on FB, Tammie and Jason captured the sequence last night, multiple photos and a short video clip, similar to what they did for BCM access.

It's doable, but looks to be more of a pain in the neck.
 
Oh brother...like the interior fuse box I do not even recognize the trim pieces removed. It was hard to tell what the snap looked like on the left side. The right has a backstop. I saved the pics. Blind snaps are tricky if do not know to pull or push.

Did you remove the entire box or just tried doing it by removing the door to glove box?

When a regular replacement item essentially needs a Workshop Manual, you know they missed the "design for repair" boat :) On the other hand, really burying things is probably part of how the cabin is so roomy - packing stuff in wherever they could fit it.

Per one of Tammie's comments, it sounds like the actual process didn't take that long (7 minutes to get to the old filter, so call it a 15 minute item), it was really a matter of knowing all the individual steps to get to it.
 
Hi gang. One recommendation:

Try to avoid changing the air cabin filter, and/or removing plastic trim at all, on very cold or even merely cold days. Plastics become stiff, brittle, unforgiving and much easier to break/crack/damage in cold weather.

Wait for a nice warm day when the vehicle interior and plastics have warmed up nicely and the trim will be far more removal friendly.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

This information is for entertainment purposes only and should only be done by a professional. Here is some information on how to access your cabin filter. On the passenger side you have to remove the side trim that has the air bag picture on in. It has 6 clips and 2 guides. After that is removed you can access the 7mm bolt under it that holds the front padded trim with the 4 clips. Under the glove box the trim that has the floorboard light has to be removed pulling down in the front and pull it out and unhook the light. Then 6 T20 screws need removed. 3 from the inside of the glove box going up on the front lip, 1 on the lower rt side, and 2 on the bottom going up. The glove box assembly will pull straight back releasing the 4 clips. Unhook the glove box light and the whole glove box will come out. Then you can access the cabin filter door and push the tabs slightly outward to release the clip and the door will swing down. The filter will pull straight back to remove. Have a great day! To install reverse instructions.

Thanks @markfm. I managed to join the group and got all the details, seems there is no way to pull out the cabin filter without remove the glovebox
 
Instructions in owners manual looks pretty straightforward.

I will let @markfm confirm but now that I look at them I think you are not for the 24. The vent has a slider and 24 does not have a slider.
