My Lincoln
2023 Corsair Reserve w/Jet Pkg
My 2023 two year BC subscription is expiring in a few weeks. To continue service, Lincoln's offer is $450 for two years, or $75 a month. I like BC but being retired, I'm only putting about 7k miles on the car, and very little of that is using BC, so I'm on the fence about whether to pay or not. It is wonderful on a long trip, but I just don't know how many of those I'll be taking in the near future. Wondering if anyone who did NOT resub scribed, received any type of promotion from Lincoln after the service deadline, or if anyone is receiving different rates from Lincoln for BC? In other words, is Lincoln giving any discounts to keep you as a BC subscriber...kind of like Sirius XM which will continue to lower their offer price multiple times after your subscription has expired.

Though mine expires in June 2025 I've yet to receive a notice. I like BC well enough I doubt I'll play chicken over the fee.

What I'd like to know with certainty though is a comprehensive explanation of what I lose if I let BC lapse. I use the driver assistance features extensively even in the city. If BC is only hands free and the limited assisted lane change of my version 1.2, I'm undecided if the fee is worth the cost. However I do rely on such as speed limit recognition and letting the car drive itself even in the city (though not hands free); I'd miss those features.

I bought a 2024 and it came with a 4 year BC subscription. When I was setting up the app, Lincoln told me they lowered the price to something like $40/month.

In my opinion, it's not worth it. I love BC, but the only thing it really does is hands free auto cruise (lane centering). You get the same thing for free if you use the lane centering and cruise control and slightly nudge the steering wheel every minute.

If without BC you have to continually nudge the wheel to maintain lane centering, I'd call that a big deal making BC well worth the price.

My 2023 GT III has what I take to be capacitive touch, requiring a light touch but not a judge.

The 2024 is the same. What you call a "capacitive touch". I called it a nudge. Tomatoes...Tomatoes... :)

But still - even with the lower price - that's gas for a whole month. I am tired of everyone going to subscriptions nowadays anyways...

Yesterday, May 12, 2025, I received notice of my Blue Cruise expiration (2023 Corsair GT III) with offer to renew for two years at $450. Given that it was always known that this is a paid service, I think the $450 is reasonable, even without the "promised" updates (I remain at version 1.2).

I signed, discovering that I could use my Lincoln Reward points as payment. So 2-year renewal at no out of pocket cost.

Oh. If it is $450 for 2 years (not every year), then the $20 a month is worth it if you actually use it every day.

Glad they lowered their pricing. However, I do think Lincoln (Ford) will eventually have to provide this free of charge in the future. Too much competition...

Would be a marketing decision but so long as Blue Cruise is considered one of the better products and Tesla remains $thousands, I'm sure Ford will confine to charge something.

Rather than move to free, I'd predict that once the OTA issue is resolved, the price will actually increase.

OTA?

Over The Air updates. Specifically, version 1.4/1.5 is available and should have been OTAd to us by now.
Oh. Ok. Thanks. Didn't know what that was.

But then again, it's been 3 weeks since I have seen my car. It's still in the shop with warranty issues. Probably another week....I hope.

Finally something I will want to use the points for. How many did it take?

Can you elaborate a bit on “letting the car drive itself in the city”? What kinds of things does it do by itself? How do you initiate? Thanks.

Blue Cruise only works on specific mapped roads… mostly interstates/roadways that have 55mph + speed limits. It won’t work in cities or areas with lots of stop lights. When you are driving on a mapped area, a message in the dash comes on telling you that BC is available and then all you have to do is push the appropriate button to turn it on, select the maximum speed you want to drive, take your foot off the gas pedal, take your hands off the wheel, and Voila, it drives itself. I can’t say strongly enough that it’s vital that you keep your eyes on the road and pay attention to your surroundings. I’ve used it in excess of 1k miles and it is capable of doing strange things and if you don’t stay vigilant, a serious accident is quite possible.

Thanks for your response. I’ve used blue Cruise quite a bit on freeways and understand those features. That’s why I was confused about his comments regarding self driving in the city. I’m wondering what that could be and if there’s some functionality that I’m not aware of. If I paid for something then I definitely want to use it 😜

This claim is misleading. While it's true hands free doesn't work, the car definitely drives itself on many city streets.

Even in full BC zones, BC doesn't do stop signs so of course the car doesn't in the city either.

Yes Sga, I found that quite interesting as well. Sometimes I think that there are different interpretations because of the wrong use of terminology/wording. Example, I've seen some folks on this site not understand the difference between Blue Cruise and Cruise Control and often that's where the misinterpretations exist. I stick by my post from yesterday as being a 100% fact. In any case, I was the original creator of this post...I got my question answered, I did re-subscribe for two more years and did use my remaining Lincoln reward points to provide some discount off the original BC price.
