My Lincoln
2020 Aviator Reserve
I recently took my 2020 Aviator to a local tire outlet to have a minor leak repair. My tires have 41K miles on 3 of them and 17K miles on a replacement I bought after I damaged the original. The tire guy remarked on how good the tread depth was and the good appearance of the tires. However when they put the car on the hoist they were shocked at the condition of the inside wall on all four tires, even the one with only 17K miles. There is a seam on the inside wall and all four tires had major cracks along the seam on most of the circumference of the tire. So much so they condemned the tire they removed and said they couldn't legally put it back on the car. So they put the spare on and called me. After seeing the cracks, I was too nervous (shaken actually) to drive the car off the lot. I ordered 4 new Michelin tires (3 days delivery) and took an Uber home. BTW, my tires had been rotated at my dealer just 2,500 miles ago. I emailed my dealer and also contacted Lincoln CRC. I highly recommend anyone with the stock 22" Goodyear Touring tires to check the inside wall of the tires ASAP. Also I did receive $130 credit per tire because of the tread depth. The picture I have was too large (file size) to attach here.

Your post confirms my comments on the 22" Goodyears. They are Crap! You will find the Michelin's to both ride and handle better, and won't wander all over the place. Which model Michelin tire did you purchase?

I only buy Michelin's or Bridgstone's.

Michelin Primacy 275/40 R22 107H XL BSW A/S These are the tires the shop recommended.

The Michelin Primacy 255/50R20 were the OEM tires on both my previous 2020 and current 2023 Aviator Reserves.

How do you like them?
I've had no issues with them but then again I'm a very low mileage driver. I lease my vehicles and have never had to replace the OEM tires at lease end. I also use dedicated winter tires. My 2020 Aviator only had 7,200 miles on it after 4 years. :)
Here is a thread you may want to check out. Who has replaced their 22" tires
The Continental Extreme name has come up in several posts I've read her and in the Explorer forum.

Thank you, I’ll check it out.

It’s eye opening if you go to Tire Rack and read the owner reviews and how hated they are as OEM AS tires, especially when they talk about their encounters with wet and snow. My wife’s 2023 Nautilus BL gets OEM Continentals, which have been my go to AS tire for years.
