So we've had our Conti for a year now and I'm still finding cool things it does. However I can't find any info on what "Auto Engine Off" is. It's in advanced features. At first I thought it was a auto on/off feature, but when I engage it and come to a stop the vehicle stays running. So....
The owners manual shows it as an option in advanced features, but gives no definition. Whatcha think? Oh yeah it's a 17 reserve with luxury and tech package.

I dislike my cars shutting off at traffic lights , so I turned mine off the first day I got the conti and just assumed that’s what it’s for.
might have to turn it on to verify, but I just kept mine on off

I don't like my engine to turn off either. My Auto Start is set to off.

I have learned a little bit about the Auto Start feature:

The Auto Start does not work until the engine is warmed up.
The Auto Start will not work if your battery is low.
The Auto Start will not work if the hood is not closed.
The gas mileage gain is very minimal.
The amount of emission reduction is very minimal.

That's all I can remember right now.

There are youtube videos on Auto Start systems,

most engine wear is at startup so why would you want that to be exaggerated on every stop? doesn't seem like it good thing for the engine

That setting is for when you are sitting in park idling. The car will shut off after 20 minutes. If you are in the car you will get an alert before the shutoff and can extend the time. It is good to uncheck this value if you plan on upgrading the Sync radio as the upgrade can take up to 30 minutes if you are also upgrading the maps at the same time.

Thank you!! Finally an answer to the whole question I asked.

Does the Auto Engine Off automatically reset to 'active' after you turn the engine off and back on (i.e. doesn't remember the setting)? Because unfortunately on my 2015 Taurus SHO it automatically resets Auto Engine Off to active again. Have to manually go through the settings menu to disable it each time.

@MkSsport
it does not reset to active after ignition cycle.
it stay off.
I turned mine off right after I bought the car and it's been that way ever since.

however,
there's 2 different 'auto engine off' topics to speak of...
1. engine turns off at traffic lights~ once you turn it off, it stays off.
2. engine turns off after extended periods of park/unsupervised idling~ the car thinks you forgot engine running and will turn engine off; it'll display a message before shutting engine asking if you want extend it's running cycle.
