arnott air shocks/compressors etc

well it's come the time to go about looking for another set of air shocks and compressor for my 2004 Lincoln Town Car. i've searched the salvage yards an they want 100 a piece but can't be sure of the mileage of their condition, so i'll be sourcing out a good reputable place for good product, but won't charge me an arm and a leg for them. i've heard from several members on here that Arnott has good products and come with a good warranty, although haven't seen any other places offer any deals or same products. I'll be buying it as a package I.E. shocks and compressor, maybe solenoids also. Feel free to chime in on anything that i may have missed or forgotten. BTW i can get the complete set w/solenoids for under 450 through Arnott. I also know that it would be cheaper to go to springs but i'm not going that way i love the ride it has now and came from factory, and intend to keep it that way.
 
You don't have air shocks, you have air springs. The package price sounds good. Do the parts come with a warranty? There will likely be a few models of air springs to accommodate different vehicles so you will want the right ones for a factory ride.

Are you going to replace the springs yourself? I remember that you have replaced the compressor yourself. Do you need any help by way of the air waves?

yea, sorry i get them mixed up, it stated it was a limited lifetime warranty so not sure what all that entails. ive gotten good at removing the compressor as you mentioned that i can now remove it without jacking the car up lol, i might but thats a big might to tackle this myself, but not sure how confident i am when it comes to this. I found a video on youtube where they changed one on a 02 town car, looks to be straightforward, it might be out of my realm of diy'er skills lol. Could i get HD ones inplace of standard, i read on there that the HD ones could be used on both limo models and some sedans.
 
Yes, you can get air springs that are designed for heavier loads, and they should fit your car. I have been told they will make the ride stiffer.

You can do the rear spring replacement, just like you did the compressor replacement. Now you are an expert on compressor replacement.

When you get tired of fixing it convert to springs and never look back just my 2 cents!
 
I just replaced the bags and solenoids on the 06 limo I just bought with 108k miles. The original bags were working fine, and in truth, they looked perfect when I took them out. I put in the limo version of the Arnott. Everything works great. With new shocks to match, the car rides like a new vehicle now that glides down the road.
 
no i havent, the only one i heard of was arnott, ill check them out too, i have time before i commit to buying a new complete set, towncars1, how was the process of the removal and installation? was it straightforward or was there any hiccups
 
On the rear, no problems, but I did fit it a little awkward to get my hand up there to turn the solenoids to release the air pressure. Shocks were very easy to change on the rear. The front is a different story -- they are heavy labor.
 
are the solenoids required to be changed when you put new springs? or are they an "cushion" of insurance just to be safe? What did you use to get the air line out, i know when you undo the one under the hood you can use a flathead screwdriver, so wasnt sure if you have that much space or not.
 
Generally the solenoids are not required but new "o"-rings are a must. With new solenoids there should be no problem.
