Ok, so to followup in the thread where I originally reported the loss of my beloved 2020 Corsair, the 2022 that replaces it arrived on Friday. Actually, it arrived at the dealer while I was out of town, but I was able to go pick it up on Friday. Same colour combination as the 2020, optioned up (the 2020 was a Standard, the 2022 a Reserve) so that I could have all the features I had (that are still available; I really liked the little temperature displays in the 2020, and prefer the nifty cd-tray-like rear-seat cup holders), and a few additional that we would have wanted in the 2020 if they didn't require packaging with features we didn't want (which in 2022, they don't).
Oh, and with the 2022 Standard, you apparently can't have both the package that includes the leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the elements package (for heated steering wheel), while in 2020, there was no such limitation. Indeed, the Reserve permits the combination, so arguably, I upgraded in order to avoid downgrading.
I haven't spent a whole lot of time in the new car yet, but it certainly is familiar. The 24-way seats are more firm (not uncomfortable, just more firm; some will definitely prefer them) than the 10-way, to a point where I personally prefer the 10-way, but my spouse had wanted the 24-way seats back in 2020 for the massage function, and we passed on it then to not be forced to have a sunroof and larger wheels. Now we can have the 24-way seats and no sunroof, and normal size (18", I believe) wheels, so win-win that way.
I did order the engine cover and parts, and my dealership's parts department had not trouble getting them. I installed that on the weekend. I'm not sure whether I notice a difference in sound within the passenger compartment, though. One thing Lincoln really did well with this car was making it super quiet inside. With my window down inside the garage, though, boy do I notice the 4-cylinder engine sound, compared to the 3.5L v-6 on my Edge (which just sounds smoother). Given a choice between the two, though, the Corsair wins out easily because it's just that much more luxurious to drive. Don't get me wrong: the Edge (Limited) is really nice, but the Corsair is simply nicer.
It seems to me that the rear differential on the 2022 (AWD) is larger in size than on the 2020. I wonder if anyone here has noticed the same, or knows whether indeed it is, or I'm just imagining it ...
