Any recommendations for new tires 2022 navigator looking for

Any recommendations for new tires for 2022 navigator
My suspension feels like I am driving a dump truck
 
I dont have recs, but i also wanna put new tires on mine. I love how mines ride 90% of the time, but i dont think i like the generals. The my25s use 275/r50 width tires instead of the 275/r45 width thats on the trucks. I think i wanna go that route because I think the extra bit of sidewall will help with the shakes on bad roads and eleviate some stiffness on small hard edges. Has anyone added 275/50s to their 4th gens?
 
Since you didn’t specify the climate, it doesn’t narrow down your options.

I can second that. I have those on my wife's GX460, and I will be installing them on my winter set of Navigator wheels when my current tires are worn. These WeatherActive Pirellis ride a bit harsher than Scorpions and can be noisy on a wet surface, but they are fantastic in the snow. But for Summer driving I'm sticking to Scorpions AS3 Plus.

Hello, friends. Welp, I did it. A family member works at discount tire, and with the added end of year discount, got new tires for 15% off. Ended up getting continental terrain contacts, but went up in size to 275/50 r22s instead of the regular 285/45 r22s. Too early to give a review right now and i wanna air down the tires, they sitting at 44psi right now, but first impression so far is it definitely helps with the body jitters on washboard pavement. They also look better since they fill out the wheel wells a bit. Will write up something after we get back from our trip.

What is the recommended pressure listed on the Lincoln placard located on the driver door sill? Since the new tire size is similar to the factory size, your current psi should probably be in that general vicinity, +\- a psi or two for personal preference.

I could be mistaken, but 44 psi just sounds a bit high. I’m sure someone will jump in to correct that if I’m wrong.

Yea i dnt know why they inflated them so high. I lowered them to about 38 the first chance I got. Gotta drive some more to soften the tires a bit, but so far, they feel really good. Since the tires are a bit bigger, you feel the weight more readily, It drives a tad firm on bumps, but in a good way. The harshness and sharpness is greatly reduced, bumps are dispatched a bit quicker, the jitteriness and nvh is toned down substanially, and the body itself feels more solid as well.
 
I’ve been using Discount Tire for about 30 years. They have good prices, a great selection, and good service. However, they do tend to overinflated tires. I just deflate them to the proper pressure.

39 psi should be the recommended tire pressure. I generally run 37-38 psi and when towing I air up the rear tires to 44-45 psi.
 
Well were almost home from our trip, and i think I made a mistake. I wanted to go bigger to help stop all the nvh concerns over rough roads, but I wanted to keep how smooth it rode otherwise. Idk if its the actual tires or if it was because I went up in size, but this ride back was extremely stiff. At first, in town and city roads, it did what i wanted and i was extremely happy about it. Yes, the tires felt a tad firm over expansion joints, but never harsh. However, as soon as i got on the open road, it flipped on us. The tires clomp over every imperfection and any pattered roads still caused vibrations, but added impact harshness that wasn't there before. Even my wife was like its nowhere near as nice as it was before. Im calling discount tire first thing monday to see if it needs a rebalance or if I can swap to another brand.

You bought all-terrain tires... It has nothing to do with the size (if anything, taller sidewall makes rride better). Hopefully, you can replace them.

Oh, online they said highway. Maybe thats why. Hopefulli i can swap to a highway tire. My dads escalade and our cx9 has Bridgestone alenzas, i really like them as well.

As for Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra, on TireRack they are rated lower than Pirelli Scorpions AS Plus 3 (including ride quality, I believe), and cost more.

I had pirelli scorpions on my last navigator and thought they were also a bit stiff.

Which Scorpions were they? There are many very different tires under this general name.

That said, the ride of the truck itself is rather stiff, that is not going to be completely negated by a tire alone.

I believe they were as2s, but i bought em back in 2023 so I cant remember. What i meant about stiff is that they hit bumps harder and were louder then the worn tires that came on the truck when I bought it. I wouldnt be opposed to pirellis, as they were on my 09 and they drove fantastic. I guess the question would be what's the best to get, Michelin, pirellis, BRidgetones (though the continentals were highly rated by testers, almost noone recs them in forums), or another brand. Also, should I stay with the thicker tire or back to the original size? I feel like the added sidewall helps with the rickety feel of the truck at times, but i want to keep the primary ride as much as possible.

After doing some research, I have answered these questions for myself. For me, Scorpions AS Plus 3 with as much sidewall as I can get (I have switched to 20" wheels) is the answer. YMMV.
 
Yeah 44 psi is way too high, that'll make any tire ride like crap. I'd try dropping those Continental A/Ts down to like 35-36 psi and see if that helps before you swap them out.

I drove the whole way back at 37, which dropped to 34 cold and it rode worse than when I started. When researching the terrain contacts, they said it was a good highway ture, but im guessing g thats comparable to other terrain tires. I think i wanna swap to a more highway focused tire. Discount t tire by my wrk has 50 series michelins on hand so ima swap em tomorrow.
 
That's probably your best bet - the Continental Terrain Contacts are definitely more A/T focused even though they market them as highway friendly. Michelins should ride way smoother, I've had good luck with them on my Navigator.
