Hi,
Looking for a new regulator for the alternator, what type of regulator should I look for, is it a A-circuit or B-circuit for my Town Car year 2003?

Thanks

The only thing I can remotely find is for a 2003 Limo through Rockauto website
VEMO V25770066 130a 14.6v- no longer in stock.
I would hunt down a local rebuilder and see if they have what you need

That alternator the 6G I believe (Called a generator by Ford) is internally regulated.

Which makes it difficult to find a regulator without buying an alternator.

Action

The regulator look like this, not sure if its a 6G.
I think the 6G has B-circuit and the 4G has A-circuit, but I'm not sure, when I search for regulator for 2003 Town Car I found they say A-circuit,very confusing..

According to Powermaster.com...

2003-2005 Non Limo should be a 4G Alternator.
Limo models supposedly have a 6G Alternator as does all the 2006-2011 Town Car models.

Several voltage regulators are available (depending on alternator manufacturer?), looks like mostly A-circuit. You can identify the proper type looking at the wiring diagram.

A local rebuilder will know exactly which one you need, not sure about in Sweden however. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks @driller now I know what the difference is between 4G and 6G, and I've a 4G in my Town Car.
I also found some information how to go from 4G to 6G in the Town Car.

Thanks all of you.

Props to you for taking on the challenge and having the initiative to repair an alternator versus simply replacing one. (y)

I used to rebuild alternators all the time when they failed at work or on my personal vehicles. From the old school GM Delco alternators with external regulators to the new 6G Ford units with internal regulators. I still have a shelf in the garage with a dozen or more alternators, some good, some needing repair. Every once in a while I'll need one and rummage through the pile finding a suitable candidate. Sometimes through necessity I will buy one and place the old one on the shelf.
