Now that the weather is cooler in the morning, I drive with windows down in city, but like to roll windows up on highway and use vent. Has anyone noticed that the air from vents with the A/C switched off (ie just vented air from outside) feels cooler than the outside temperature...almost as if the A/C is actually running even though I turned it off?

I turn the A/C off to maximize fuel economy. Doesn't do me any good if the A/C isn't actually turning off!

Just pressing the A/C off does NOT turn off the compressor. Go figure! My procedure (there are others as well) for getting fresh outside uncooled air is:

a. Go to climate screen.
b. Touch vent and floor.
c. Turn off recirculate.
d. Turn off A/C.
e. Return to Home screen.

Of course, if you don't have MLT, I can't help you. :)

I have read studies about driving with the windows down. The finding was that the windows being down with AC off caused enough drag to lower fuel economy more the windows up with AC on.

John, I agree at highway speeds that is probably true. I tend to only leave the windows down during local driving under 40mph.

Steve, I will try your procedure tomorrow morning. Thanks!
