'24/'25 Nautilus Widget Updates?

We have seen zip. It sounds like marketing demo.

Wonderful. How do we get it? At the current pace of updates I assume it will be available right after I trade my 2024 in for a new 2028 model
You probably will wait that long. They do NOT list the 2024 Nautilus as getting this widget.

I just ran all the software updates myself (FDRS). My dealer said they could do it from Lincoln mobile service but I had a couple hours after work today.

They updated the weather app to let you choose hourly or summary.

The digital clock option with the date is nice but I prefer the minimal look of the original (both options available)

The compass. It’s a compass.

I got the fob fix, the apim fix with widgets, and the window recall done today. It was in the shop over 6 hrs. I watch status on Lincoln app and reported being on almost the entire time.

The window took 2 hrs. I also had tire rotation done.

Some screens looked a little different like phone config but could not say what changed. I did not notice any profile stuff lost.

I’m currently looking at the 2025 Nautilus to replace my current car. How many different widgets are available for the 48” screen?

I believe the '25 is the same as the '24 as far as widgets go, and right now with the latest update there are eight widgets on my non-hybrid '24:

Clock
Media
Weather
Compass
Tire Pressure
Current/Average Fuel Economy
Trip Odometer 1
Trip Odometer 2

I think the hybrid has an additional battery/fuel widget.

The center screen always shows the time, media/radio is available on the center screen, and the panoramic screen always shows the compass heading, but the information from the other widgets is only available when that widget is placed on the panoramic screen. You can have any three widgets on the panoramic screen at one time, and they're easy to move around to suit your mood or need.

The tire pressure info is available on the touchscreen. I think you might be missing the 'This Trip' widget, which is different from the others. But no, there is no battery widget for the hybrid. 😒

I never noticed tire pressure info on the touchscreen, thanks!

"This Trip" must be that ninth widget only available on the hybrids.

Must be. It shows electric miles vs total miles, I guess to convince you the hybrid is working.

The Fuel economy widget does show when electric driving is active.

Can someone explain why Ford has not pushed the OTA update to everyone. When Apple and Google push smart phone updates 100's of million people get them in a matter of a week or so. Yet Ford can't figure out how to make updates available to a tiny fraction of those users.

Can you please explain what this means (FDRS)/how you did this? And does this apply to the 2024, or just the 2025? Thanks

FDRS is the Ford software update platform. 2024 and 2025 (as well as earlier years use FDRS)

The F-150 and Mach-E forums are very active with FDRS updates (self-service rather than having the dealer do it). I have noticed that Lincoln owners are not as active in doing the updates themselves (Ford/Lincoln disclaimer that even though anyone can download FDRS, it should only be used by "experienced tech service at Ford/Lincoln" I've updated my own Ford/Lincoln vehicles for years.

There is a license fee to use it, and I suggest you read the F150 forums on people's experiences with it before attempting to use it. Some updates have dependency module updates, so the overall process can be time-consuming. Just search f-150 forums and FDRS updates self-install. Lots of experienced people out there (who work for dealers) can give you any info on the process.

It is easier to have the dealer do it. But I prefer to just do it on a Saturday or Sunday while I'm hanging out at home.

You can call your dealer and request that all outstanding modules be updated. I have a dealer who is willing to do that, no issue. There is another nearby that will only update modules IF there is an outstanding TSB, so it varies. For the new widgets, just tell them you have issues hearing people on your phone, and the charging indicator is not working. This will get you a warranty appointment to get it in.

This update hasn’t been sent as an OTA yet. It has to do with the time required to update multiple modules, and the need to ensure the battery is sufficiently charged to handle the process. It’s not a Ford-only issue—most vehicles face similar challenges with larger updates not being ideal for over-the-air delivery. That’s just a fact, not an excuse. Engineers should be given the time to improve this (though leadership often thinks they know “best” when it comes to what consumers want, lol).

An example of another company, our Porsche Cayenne has received only one OTA in three years, but gets several updates whenever I bring it into the dealer.

What usually happens is that over time, all the modules get updated, and then the new features appear, but it takes much longer than getting it done connected to a charger and a laptop connected.

As to why Google/iPhones get constant updates and not cars. Car OS is more complex, with higher risks of failure. Bricking your phone is an inconvenience; bricking your car, especially if a critical update fails due to a low battery or an incomplete install, is a lot more serious.

Also, I think we will see more of this type of widget coming from third-party partners as well. This update does work nicely while keeping tabs on a game. I have used it a few times. Nice to have the scores up there on the big screen even while I'm using something completely different from carplay.

Do you believe that it will be sent OTA at some point, or will we inevitably need a dealer visit to get these (admitted minor) enhancements?

You will see it eventually, and it will vary depending on what you have to update in your car. There could be at least three modules to update before it shows up. Mine just needed the APIM, which took about 30 minutes total for me to apply the update, but the download ahead took about an hour. I could have waited for it to go out eventually, but I'm that impatient guy who wants everything now :)
