2026 Corsair News

The Corsair and Escape's demise has been known for months. The surprise was that there was going to be a '26 model instead of just continuing to crank out '25s until the plant in Kentucky closed to be reconfigured. The sub-surprise is that based on the '26 order guide as it is currently written, neither car will be sold in the green states.

LINCOLN BLINKED!

Yup, approximately a week ago they decided to produce the 2026 Corsair for all 50 states. Starting with the PHEV and with the ICE version to come in a few months. So, today, my local Orange County CA dealer placed a order for me for a 2026 Corsair GTIII and I have already gotten an email from Lincoln confirming that my order has been received. The Order Summary specifically states that this is a 50-state car. So, there you go.

What else will they do?

Why would you buy a '26? A new '24 GT III can be had with $15K off plus zero percent financing and it's an identical car. It also has Active Park Assist and illuminated scuff plates which the '25 and later Corsairs don't.

Other than some minor interior and exterior color choice variations and removal of once standard features there haven't been any changes since the '23 refresh. The GT becoming available with the Jet Appearance package started in '25 but if that's your motivation is it worth tens of thousands of dollars?

I know you are replying to a GT post, but to keep everyone informed. A major change made in 2025 on the 2.0 engine that most don't know or pay attention to is that the engine now has both direct and port injection to help keep the backside of the valves clean. That was huge for me as I keep vehicles a long time.

Link supporting that? Seems like a pretty important change that I've never seen mentioned anywhere.

Sorry my friend, there's been no change to the 2.0L engine since 2023 and it was and still is direct injection. If they added port injection in '25 it wouldn't use the same manifold inlet. Ordering a new crate engine is also the same for the '23 to '25 model years.

Look up the part numbers that are unique to port injection on the Ford parts site and see if they show applicable to the Corsair or Escape.

The Corsair and Escape are built on the same KY assembly line while the Maverick and Bronco Sport are built together in Mexico. All of them offer the 2.0L turbo. I'd assume Corsair/Escape would be equally affected by production changes and same thing for the Maverick/Bronco Sport.

Lincoln's website specifically says "high pressure direct injection" in the engine specs of the '25 Corsair with the 2.0L turbo. It says "port injection" for the 2.5L so it's not like Lincoln doesn't know the difference.

The all-new 2.0 L ecoboost engine, with both port and direct injection, debuted in the 2023 Ford Escape and 2023 Lincoln Corsair. It was recently introduced in the 2025 Maverick and 2025 Bronco Sport.

My wife and I visited our local Lincoln dealer today, met with the sales manager, and attempted to order a 2026 Corsair Reserve equipped with the 2.0-liter engine. At his desktop computer, the sales manager was able to begin the order and enter the appropriate option codes, but the system barfed when he requested pricing info for our new Corsair. He said the error message he received referred to the vehicle's emissions-control system, and it could not be ordered in a "green" state like Massachusetts.

This is consistent with the info that's been presented in this thread; i.e., Lincoln is currently accepting green-state orders for PHEV 2026 Corsairs, but orders for new ICE Corsairs will have to wait if you live in a green state. The sales manager promised he'd let us know when ICE orders are accepted.

The new 2.0 engine with both port and direct injection was introduced in the 2023 Corsair and Escape with little fanfare. The new engine was recently introduced into the 2025 Bronco Sport and Maverick.

Here’s the status of your 2026 Corsair order:

Production starts 8 September 2025

They have already scheduled all production through October 2025. So, if your car has not yet been scheduled, you have very little time.

Because, in the next week or three, they will schedule production for, and balance out, in November 2025.

Meaning - That’s All Folks!

Buh bye Corsair.

What’s next??????

I wouldn't get another Corsair to replace our 2011 MKZ Hybrid. So unless it's something different, probably a small EV, they will have lost me anyway.

I would assume the vast majority of Corsairs built are for dealer stock and not custom ordered. Ford already said they plan to build enough '26 Corsairs and Escapes prior to the Kentucky plant transitioning to the "Model T of our time" to stock dealers for the foreseeable future. The dates you shared just show how they are going to do that. There's currently an 85 day supply of Corsairs on dealers lots so the production push before the plant transitions will likely double or potentially triple that. Finding a '26 Corsair won't be a problem for anyone for most of the '26 model year. They didn't exactly fly off the shelves before '26 and that's unlikely to change.
