Lincoln's electrified future is previewed by the Star Concept SUV, a mid-size two-row crossover with a dramatic interior. The Star should be one of the first of several Lincoln EVs to come to market, probably in late 2024 as a 2025 model. Lincoln says both rear- and all-wheel drive electric powertrains will be part of the package. The cabin of the concept shows a full-width digital display on the dashboard, sculpted front and rear bucket seats, an integrated beverage chiller, crystal accents, and rose gold colored trim pieces. The exterior styling looks half Aviator, half spaceship, and a large front trunk area includes a drawer that slides out to access additional storage space.

The Star is shaping up to be a powerful and quick electric crossover. Lincoln hasn't revealed what propulsion system will power it, but we think it could use a similar setup to the Ford Mustang Mach E’s. That would mean dual electric motors and a range of battery sizes from 75.7-kWh to 98.8-kWh and up to 459-hp and standard all-wheel drive. We’ll just have to wait and see. An adaptive suspension is likely to be standard and should provide a plush, Lincoln-appropriate ride. Read more...

While EVs are compelling for many reasons, I am holding off for now until battery chemistry and charging infrastructure is improved so charging times are closer to times required to refuel an ICE vehicle.

I have a 2024 Nautilus FHEV on order. I'm currently driving a 2021 Corsair GT. It suits my needs mostly but has been a nightmare of multiple recalls and numerous quality issues that are unrelated to the HV battery. Lincoln is repurchasing my vehicle once the Nautilus arrives.

Ford just slashed Lightning production in half. This vehicles future is still questionable. I’m leaning towards we never see it.
It looks great though. Super futuristic for sure. I’d like one with an Aviator motor in it. :)

Yes, I'm not ready yet myself. It's a fine idea and I'm confident we'll see a full electric structure in the future. Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the Corsair...

Hmm. That would figure... Yes, I'd be happy to see an Aviator motor in it as well. :p

Aside from its tendency to burst into flames, it performs poorly at towing, hauling for distance, and operating in the cold – the basic functionalities that are expected of a pickup truck.

The buried lede in this story isn’t that Ford is cutting weekly production of its electric pickup from 3,200 units per week to 1,600 units per week, rather it’s that Ford’s executives still think there is a market that will absorb 1,600 of these abominations per week.
