2024 Nautilus Cracked Windshield

Well, after 37 days the windshield came in today and our cracked one will be replaced. Hopefully, we should get the vehicle back in time for the weekend.

While we were waiting for the windshield, we got the battery replaced, the display module reprogrammed (APIM?), the rotors replaced, the new CDM software update, the ABS software update, and the anti-pinch window software update. At least they made use of the time they had it.
Curious why the battery and rotor replacement on s young car?

I had a battery death in early July. Came back from a short trip, and vehicle went into deep sleep 95 minutes later. It was dead. We called roadside assistance, they recovered it, and it was fine since. But when I took it in they said the battery failed their test. I presume the software was to blame for the quick drain and it damaged the battery.

The rotors were replaced under SSM 52785 for making a grinding or grunting noise while braking. That affected some vehicles and was due to the rotor design.

I have not had the rotor issue after 3000 miles so wonder if it will eventually happen. The CSP mentions disc stiffness.

Hi Billz. There can be various reasons. One would be Issues with vendor/supplier quality control.

Another would be damage caused by other problems. One example of that would be if a battery was repeatedly discharged due to another electronic/electrical issue. Such deep discharging may/will damage the ability of the battery to hold a full charge. So it will need to be replaced.

Those are simply two examples.

Good luck.

Idk, either. But it's the same with the shocks. Why do some continually have the rumbling/knocking and others don't? The rotors are known to be an issue when cold, but we're in Texas and I can't believe temperature is a significant factor.

As my vehicle ages ... lol...3500 miles the brake noise is getting progressively worse. Dealer says no parts yet.

At 7300 miles now mine has gotten significantly worse than new. Its harder to prevent the noise even with soft braking. I have had other drivers think I was locking up my tires in a skid and move out of the way because the noise is so loud. Its a high pitched howl now rather than a groan. I can actually hear the rotors flex when going around rotaries also.

Sounds familiar......

@olderbudweiser

Our dealer said the same thing and when pressed with providing them the part number from the bulletin... they ordered and received both new front rotors within 2 weeks and scheduled the replacement (with loaner) on the 3rd week. I have to say, night and day difference with the new rotors. Completely quiet braking experience now, both in forward and reverse directions, at slow, medium or hard pressure. Overall braking capability has improved and now longer feels like they are going to fail during hard braking instances. Like they should have been all along, and ours has made noises from the very beginning, just getting worse and more often as we got to 2000 miles.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Thanks on my things to do list for next week !!

After 6 weeks in the shop, we're getting the car back today. It'll feel like we have a new car all over again. Hopefully, this one is (virtually) bug-free. Edit: Got it.

I'm resurrecting this thread. While everyone else seems to be having trouble with shocks, rotors, reboots, whatever, our problem lies elsewhere. For the second time in 11 months, we have a cracked windshield. We're not sure how this one happened. The car was parked in the driveway overnight and we came out this morning and it was cracked.

The last time it took 5 weeks for the dealer to get a replacement in. Hopefully, it won't be that bad this time. 😕

Good luck.

There must be a lot of internal stress in the factory glass. It makes it very impact resistant but a crack will propagate from very small defects. I hit a goose square in the center of the windshield at 55mph and it didn't leave a mark... other than some goose juice.

I haven't really taken a close eye to it, but it looks like a stress break. It runs all the way to the top of the windshield behind the mirror and I can't see an impact mark. Maybe our previous replacement was installed incorrectly?

The good news is the dealer said they'd move our appointment up to this Friday instead of us waiting another three weeks. We'll have the windshield done, premium 5K maintenance, the TSB 24-2258 seat belt clips, and finally 24B54. We wanted to have 24C43 done as well, but it still hasn't popped up for us (or anyone?).

In Florida replacement windshields are free once a year.
I had one in my car and another in wife's later thankfully after the 1st of the year. Used Safelite both times. Factory OEM glass and it took a couple days for an appt and half a day to do them.

Actually, in Florida, there is no such thing as one free windshield replacement per year. There is a Florida statute that says your comprehensive coverage has zero deductible for glass damage. The statute says nothing about a limit to how many times you can use it, but if it happens too often, your coverage may be dropped upon renewal.

I'm happy to report that after taking 6 weeks in the shop to get our windshield replaced last time, it only took 1 week this time. Plus we had a full service maintenance performed and 24B54 done.

I guess now it's time for us to play with unheard voice commands, non-responsive audio streams, folding mirrors, and whatever else f's up.

I just got back from taking my car on its first road trip to Arizona and on the way back a truck flew a rock and cracked my windshield. Dealer says it will take 5 days get get the glass in for me. Question for anyone that had theirs replaced. Did you get OEM glass? Dealer told me it has sound proofing on it so I want to make sure I get OEM glass. Hoping State Farm will cover it as dealer quoted me $2471. :(
