My Lincoln
2024 Nautilus R2H
So this morning we suddenly noticed a crack that runs from the passenger side pillar across to the driver side and down to the bottom. Neither of us recall any particular impact, but there does appear to be a small chip where it may have originated from. (Hard to see in the photo.)

The reason I mention this is we bought the windshield protection package, so we were going to have the dealer replace it, as well as check out a couple other issues we've had. But they can't offer up a loaner until 8/22. I suppose we could go without it for a day if they only do the windshield. They either don't carry enough loaners, or are getting flooded with Nautilus service appointments.

Kinda makes the whole Lincoln customer care experience seem a little flat. 😕

Yikes. I had a nice boulder hit and make a nice star shaped crack on my windshield. Luckily safelite was able to fill it to keep it from spreading. I’m going to wait until after my next planned long drive to shell out the comprehensive deductible to have it replaced. Looks like glass only is about $1,600 on FordParts. :o

Wow, so sorry swindler. But, we also got the windshield protection package and look forward to hearing about your replacement experience and work quality when finished.

Sorry to see that, but you're right that it looks like an impact caused it, a classic strike point divot.

At least the cost of the protection package has been covered. 😊

In Florida replacement windshields are free once a year.
I had one in my car and another in wife's later thankfully after the 1st of the year. Used Safelite both times. Factory OEM glass and it took a couple days for an appt and half a day to do them.

Interesting. I found this on the Internet. No such joy for Texas.

If you have comprehensive coverage and meet all coverage requirements, your insurance company cannot apply a deductible for a covered windshield replacement claim in these states:

• Kentucky
• Florida
• South Carolina

These three states waive the deductible for windshield claims, so they are often referred to as "zero deductible" states.

The loaner situation isn't just for Nautilus service appointments. The dealership will have a set number of loaners that covers all models of Lincolns. When I have had my Corsair in for service I have received a Corsair, a Nautilus and even a Navigator once. This was even for regular oil change/tire rotation service when an appointment was made in advance.

The one time I had an emergency service and had the vehicle towed to the dealership, they sent someone out to pick me up at my house and take me to the dealership to get a loaner.

It does suck to have a broken windshield. I'm sorry that happened to you!

I understand it's a pool of loaners. I was just surmising that the Nautilus rollout issues were a factor. I saw this article a couple of days ago indicating that warranty work is killing Ford's bottom line.

Ford Falls Most in 15 Years as Warranty Costs Erode Profit

in NY, GEICO coverage, Comprehensive "$500 Ded. With Full Glass". I'm pretty sure we didn't have to pick the "With Full Glass", just the basic deductible amount. We needed a windshield replacement on our RX350 last year, cost was $0.

Speaking about the loaner situation Lincoln was paying for a rental car when you needed service or if your Lincoln automatically qualified for a free rental (Black Label).
Then all of a sudden earlier this year Lincoln stopped paying for a rental car altogether for its customers no matter what had happened to your vehicle or no matter if you owned a brand new 150K Black Label Navigator.
My dealership had an Enterprise rental car company location right there on site with the service department. Getting a rental/loaner was very easy, painless & quick.
However Lincoln decided to screw over their customer base and canceled this very needed luxury brand service.
So now instead of getting the hassle free loaner vehicle you really need. Lincoln & the Dealership have decided to make this process such a hassle/pain in the a**.
That it's become nearly impossible to get any type of loaner vehicle anymore. Now they have a thousand excuses as to why you don't qualify for a loaner.
Just goes to show you how much they value their customer base thats spending 70k to 150k on a new Lincoln.
This is also the main reason I didn't buy a 2024 Nautilus Black Label. Why pay 20k more for a Black Label when they took away one of the best perks in my opinion.

They appear to want to take care of their stockholders rather than take care of their customers but in the articlle the CFO states it is costs related to older cars. If you think about it, if a dealer has a busy shop that is a lot of loaners to have around.

Update: Vehicle put into dealer service 8/6

First, be careful with the windshield protection package. It's actually a 3rd party company called CrystalFusion. We were never given any information about this at closing. We thought it was a Lincoln warranty service, nothing more.

Since we agreed to the package the day we took the vehicle home, the vehicle never had the protective coating applied that's supposed to protect your windshield from chips and cracks! Maybe we would have avoided this issue altogether had it been done.

Yesterday, my dealer told me to file a claim with the company so they would be reimbursed. They gave me a phone number (my only information). When I called, it seemed straightforward enough, but she asked me when it happened. "A week ago", I said. "Oh, the T&C in your contract states you have 72 hours to report a crack or the repair isn't covered. You can try your insurance. But thanks for letting us know. Btw, you have 72 hours to reapply the coating after the windshield is replaced or your entire warranty package is void." WTF?

After a few select words to my dealer about getting me in this situation by not applying the coating, not giving me the contract, not telling me to file a claim when I reported the crack the same day it happened, etc, they said they'd work the issue with CrystalFusion. The windshield is going in today. I can only hope the cost is $0.

Btw, they're also replacing the battery. They said it failed their test. And for our screen blacking out issue they said they're reprogramming a module.

Hi swindler. What your dealer sold you is essentially only a profit maker for them (if you were charged for it). Ceramic and other coatings on paint and glass offer extremely minimal scratch/chip/breakage protections, despite their advertising claims. And all of their “exclusions” and requirements make them even less valuable.

There is no particular “coating” which can be applied to a windshield to realistically protect it from cracking/chips/breakage etc.
Whatever cracked your windshield still would have cracked your windshield. “Coating” or no coating.

Hopefully your Dealership will help you through this issue, since them letting you take the vehicle with a signed windshield treatment/protection contract, but no treatment applied, has put you in a rare, but rather troublesome position.

Keep us updated and good luck.

I don't disagree. To be honest, I spent weeks working a good price for the vehicle, but on closing my *ahem*, cohort wanted a lot of protection packages because there's a chance I won't be around and she felt better with them. I ended up losing the benefit of all my negotiating. I bought a second car within a month and the same thing happened. 😄

Btw, it also offers a water repelling property, I assume similar to what I had with a PIAA product. Haven't really tried it yet.

Regardless, she's happy…

Hi swindler. If she’s happy, you’re happy. Or at least not in trouble. And that’s all that matters. 🤗

And I hope you will be around a long time to enjoy your new Nautilus.

Good luck. 🍻

Well, after 37 days the windshield came in today and our cracked one will be replaced. Hopefully, we should get the vehicle back in time for the weekend.

While we were waiting for the windshield, we got the battery replaced, the display module reprogrammed (APIM?), the rotors replaced, the new CDM software update, the ABS software update, and the anti-pinch window software update. At least they made use of the time they had it.

I just had most of those software updates performed. Did your center stack brightness change and or some of the images get larger? I can read my center stack now with sunglasses on. Couldn't before. (too dim)

Was 24B09 (May 24) part of your update that fixed your consistent low brightness issue?

We really didn't have a problem with brightness before, but I'll check it when we get it back. It might be next week before I sit in it again.
