Hi gang. Sorry, didn’t mean to scare prospective owners who aren’t as interested in all the technology.

However, as SgtLip stated, once an owner/driver sets up the dash the way they prefer, it’s pretty much “cruise control”. Take the time to set things up the way you prefer once, and you’re done, if that’s the way you want it. The shame is how some owners may never learn just how configurable the vehicle settings are.

The plus side is how configurable the dash is to the tastes of the owners/drivers who do care and like using the technology.

What’s amazing is the tech additions and advancements between my 2007 MKZ, my 2018 MKZ, and the new Nautilus. Almost like 3 different planets.

Don't worry It's just a fact of life now that electronics are trendy. Not really necessary just trendy.
Vehicles today pretty much do the same as 100 years ago get you from point a to b. Some like all the bells and whistles, me I don't care. But it gets forced on you.
There are lots of safety items that are nice. Not really necessary if drivers paid attention. Now we can relax day dream and our car will save us in many instances. I still use my mirrors and thankfully my head swivels to look left and right, use the side view mirrors. Honestly I forget my car has a backup camera. I back up using my mirrors.

My Last Updated changed again today. This should correspond with the vehicle being picked up by truck at the rail hub, and delivered to the dealer later today. Hopefully, I'll get a call before the weekend.

I agree. I'm buying my kid a car for his college graduation and I just can't ignore those premium packages with all the safety features. I mean…it's my kid!

I'm actually looking around for a 60's era vehicle, manual, carburetor, ac no PCM. Will stretch for solid state ignition. Doesn't need to be a muscle car. Just a nice one. No problem spending 35k plus. Not looking for some numbers matching 90k car.

I spent 35K on my kid. It has backup camera, cross traffic detection, blindspot mirroring, etc. I mean all those are big safety features IMO.

Also, insurance does too as those things do add discount. My insurance is ridiculous.

I got you half way. One son is a car nut, drives a manual, does all his own work, (replaced his front axle last fall), but the other son is not mechanically inclined. He ignores funny sounds, has no clue about maintenance, even though I taught him all this. He hated driving a manual. The one starring moment he had was changing someone's flat tire for them. At least he could do that.

Btw, as I was typing this, I got the email from the dealer that the Nautilus has landed. It's a good thing it's a leap year, or it would have taken until March.

it's literally in the VIN. You can't get around it. All those safety features are built into the rate if you get into the weeds.

When it comes to driving, being right isn't what's important. It's avoiding an accident, the anguish of repairing your vehicle, and the tragedy of someone being injured.

I was surprised to see mine hardly changed. Increase of $150 annually compared to my 2019 Edge ST.

I was lucky my particular job at Ford we were sent to Boundrant driving school, after that Ford hiried some of their instructors and we had to requalify every year so our ID badge would access the Ford test tracks. Fun times !!!

Of course we used helmets and seatbelts

Heck, I don't have any kids that I'm paying insurance for and mine is sky high. The insurance rates in Florida has gone plumb stupid ever since all the yankees decided to encroach upon our state.

Which car did you get. I heard Volvo XC 60 is the best car for kids because it is a SUV and it's the safest car on the road. Fastest breaking too

Lol. Both my nephew and my sister moved from Ohio and Michigan, respectively, to Florida last year. Damn Yankees!

Of course, I was one 40+ years ago coming down to Texas.
