2023 Corsair orders, build dates

I regularly grease the lug nut threads and valve stem threads with wheel bearing grease. Years ago I saw so many lug nuts seize on mag rims. Also have seen valve stem covers seize also. Good habit to do this

Well my time has finally come. I received a text from my replacement sales guy (last guy left the area) saying that my order finally arrived.

Working to schedule a time for a test drive and to discuss numbers. First off, hopefully we love it as much as many of you.

I know others have said there is no wiggle room these days, but they are going to have to show me some love for me to buy a 2023 vehicle in August of 2023.

We'll see.

Hi DD. It is your vehicle, but I would only mention/advise: Lincoln/Ford and virtually all recognized automotive experts specifically advise not to apply lubrication to the lug nut threads. It will throw off torque wrench readings (for those who use a torque wrench for proper wheel installation) and may/will result in over-torquing of the lug nuts, possible lug damage, brake rotor warping, etc. etc.

In fact, Lincoln/Ford Owner Manuals specifically state not to apply any lubrication, at least up to the point of my 2018 MKZ. I would also hazard to say, that even if that specific information has been left out of the newer Owner Manuals, the physics has not changed.

While it is possible to find all sorts of information online, correct and absolutely incorrect from anyone who can post a YouTube video, I prefer to get my information from expert sources. So in addition to what Lincoln/Ford state and other automotive experts state, see this information from The Tire Rack: https://www.tirerack.com/upgrade-garage/what-is-the-proper-method-to-torque-wheel-lug-nuts-or-bolts

For those who do not like/wish to click on links, here is the important passage: "It is important NOT to lubricate hardware threads or seats. The friction at which torque is measured against should come from the hardware seats. Lubricating hardware threads and seats alters the friction generated at the lug seat which will result in inaccurate torque readings and/or over-torqueing of the hardware."

And as I stated, I am not telling others what to do, only providing the information so we can all make educated decisions. 🤗

Good luck. 🍻

Makes sense. I’ve been doing it for years and I do use a torque wrench. I tighten my lug nuts to 100ft lbs. never had a problem and never had a stripped lug nut stud or lug nut. I’ve taken lug nuts off that people have overtightened and on the way off the threads get ruined. Just what I do anyway.

Hello, new to the forum...ordered 2023 Corsair on July 18. Is there a way to track build other than calling the concierge or emails from Lincoln?

Not that I know of

Hi kls and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. There is a Lincoln tracking website, if your Dealership registered you for it. However, it will not offer any better information than the Dealership (who should be your primary contact) and/or Lincoln Concierge. Your Dealership has all the latest information at their fingertips, if they do their job properly.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Welcome to the Forum. 👋

The big advantage of the tracking site (at least the one available for Canadian orders) is you can look at the summary of your configuration while you are waiting (this gives you the opportunity to check to see that the dealer placed the order correctly). Additionally, during sometime in the few weeks leading up to the actual scheduled build week, the window sticker becomes available to you. This offers the best insight into your actual configuration. If it does not match your expectations (like missing or deleted options/feature) you have a heads up so you can talk to your dealer. Note, if there is a discrepancy between what you ordered and what is being built, it is probably too late to get that vehicle changed but you can discuss the issue with your dealer and perhaps do a reorder at that time. There is an example of someone on this forum that didn't get a trim option they had expected. If they had monitored their build through the online tracker, perhaps they could have notified the dealer and worked on a solution prior to taking delivery. In any case, the online tracker offers visual status updates and offers you the feeling of being better informed.

Good luck.

Hi Gang. Just to add to the information Sharbotcom provided. While the following information has been discussed in the past, it tends to get lost over time:
When placing a factory order for a Lincoln (or Ford), we should ask for and receive a copy of the VOC (Vehicle Order Confirmation) from the Salesperson/Sales staff. The VOC contains all of the ordering information, vehicle configuration, options etc. etc.
And it is available immediately, while we are sitting in the showroom. No need to wait a week, or two or more.

In addition, about a week or so after the order has been placed, the Dealer receives a DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgment) from Lincoln. The DORA acknowledges that the order has been received by Lincoln. And again, it contains all of the ordering information, vehicle configuration, options etc. etc. So if there are any errors, they can be immediately corrected.

So for an educated buyer, there is no need to wait for that information to become available on the Lincoln tracking site.

Of course, part of the issue nowadays is online/remote ordering and buying. Yes, online ordering/buying has its advantages, but there are also disadvantages, since there is a delay in receiving a VOC when we are not at the Dealership to order...if we get one at all.

Personally I prefer ordering/purchasing in person, face-to-face, and discourage online buying if at all possible. Too many places for errors to be made. Yes, some online purchasing experiences can be very clean, easy and correct (with a good, conscientious salesperson/staff), but there are still disadvantages, if the buyer does not receive a VOC and DORA

But at least this way buyers can be aware that they should insist on receiving a VOC and DORA, so we can catch any mistakes in plenty of time to have them corrected.

Hope this information helps, and good luck. 🍻

Thank you. I haven't been able to locate a tracking sheet yet. I saw a link to an excel sheet on this forum, but wasn't sure how vehicles are added.

Hello, purchased through a dealership. They have been helpful. Just trying to see if I could keep track myself so I don't have to bother them as much

Have you been given a VIN and Build Date yet? The Window Sticker is usually produced 7-10 days prior to the Build Date. I'm guessing that you may be looking at a Built date of possibly mid-October. The 2024 Corsair begins production on November 13th.

What is your source for the November 13 date? My dealer doesn't know this.

The Ford Production Schedule shows that the initial orders for the 2024 Corsair will be accepted as of August 24th with production slated to begin on November 13th. As always, there is the rider that dates are subject to change.

Hi kls. Yes, I understand what you were trying to find. I was simply providing additional information to what Sharbotcom offered, concerning how owners should get copies of the VOC and DORA for their orders from the Dealership, which was why I did not quote you.

As an FYI...All Lincoln vehicles are purchased through a Dealership, whether ordered in person or online, etc. Tesla is the only major exception to that at the moment.

If you do not want to bother the Dealership, you can call Lincoln Concierge, and or use the Lincoln order tracking website. If the Dealership did not tell you how to use the website, contact them and/or Lincoln Concierge.

Keep us updated and good luck.

No, not heard a word other than they received the order. Waiting on build to be scheduled.

Be patient. I ordered mine 10/30/22, received one email saying my order was accepted, 11/10/22. Next time I received any contact was April, 2023. My build was 7/14/23 and so far, it’s in transit, per my salesperson.

Good luck with your order. I ordered a Corsair reserve in November 2022, and also got the initial email that my order was received. Not another word from Lincoln in the following 9 months, and was recently told by my dealer that my order is still not scheduled to be built. Calling the concierge and tells me to keep checking with the dealer as they have a better way to get updated information.
