2023 Corsair orders, build dates

Hello.
Some facts for you all that I have discovered in searching for my backup plan. Please keep in mind that I ordered my Reserve early September and would be very happy if I received a build date tomorrow. That being said, if I don't get some news soon I will be forced to cancel my order and choose another manufacturer. This is what I have found in my search. I hope it helps those in my similar situation. Thanks!
2023 models in showrooms for purchase now along with many in transit with delivery dates in February.
Acura RDX
Mercedes GLB
Lexus NX and RX
Volvo XC60
Audi Q3 and Q4
BMW X3 and X4
Genesis GV70
Once again I hope we all get great news form Lincoln soon, but if not these are some options available now.

Hi BMM. Not trying to be a wise guy, but sorry...that is incorrect. Manufacturing is simply an assembly line worker or machine placing a part or assembly into a vehicle moving down an assembly line. Installing a transmission or engine is installing a transmission or engine. The parts, pieces and bolts are tightened the same way etc.
The machine knows no difference between a mid engine or front engine vehicle, or a traditional automatic transmission versus a dual clutch tranmission. It is not more difficult to manufacture

So to make it clear, you are actually now discussing designing/engineering...versus manufacturing. They are very different situations.
Chevy has been designing/engineering the C8 Corvette for nearly a decade, so comparing it to the Corsair mid-cycle redesign for 2023 is even worse than apples to oranges.

And as a related aside...It is sometimes *easier* to retool an assembly line for a clean sheet model than it is to change an existing line for an existing model to add new technology to that existing model. But in truth, like comparing it to the Corvette (or any two different vehicles to each other) that is also an irrelevant factoid when discussing the perceived "delays" to the 2023 Corsair.

The designing, engineering and manufacturing cycle of the Corvette has absolutely nothing to do with any other vehicle, Corsair or any other.
And as previously mentioned, the design and manufacturing cycles of any one vehicle has nothing to do with any other vehicle. Corsair/Camry. Accord/Nautilus. Navigator/Corolla, Jeep Grand Cherokee/Civic etc. etc. etc. No matter what two vehicles are being discussed, design cycles and when they are introduced in any particular calendar year can not be compared.

You and everyone else here has every right to be impatient about the wait for your Corsairs. Or to give up and buy something else. However, the information I provided about design cycles and how they are not comparable for different vehicles is correct.
Ignoring all the facts presented and instead trying mix in the Corvette is a totally irrelevant comparison to the Corsair design schedule and/or any other vehicle. At least to those familiar with the subject.

I am trying to help others understand the delays to one particular vehicle. The Lincoln Corsair. Makes no difference to me if someone waits and buys or not. So let's please stick to the facts as they exist with the Corsair.

Good luck.
If you're not working in the PR department for Ford/Lincoln you should be.

I just found a Jaguar F-Pace in stock at a dealership fairly close to me. It's about $14k more than the Corsair I have on order, but it's an absolutely gorgeous vehicle and is available right now. Very tempting!

I can understand why you are tempted! They are so beautifully aggressive! Now that's what I call a back up plan! Time to add it to the list! :) Keep us posted on what you decide to do!

I've also looked at the, XC60...found it rode rougher, and I thought the cabin wasn't as quiet as the Lincoln. This was in late 2020..I bought the 21 Corsair. The Volvo was also about $10k higher than the ~$52,000 MSRP of my 22 Corsair fairly well equipped Reserve.

I had a 19 RDX...replaced with the 21 Cirsair. I disliked the fake engine noise forced in without being able to disable it. They did have a mid cycle update, however, that may have modified some of my criticisms. It also had a much firmer ride.

Nice ! I would get that if you can afford it. I’m pretty sure ford owns jaguar so I’d bet it’s similar.

Ford DID own Jag, but it hasn't in many years.

Thanks didn’t know they didn’t own it anymore. I know my 2017 MKZ the nose looked just like a jag. I think a while back I read customer reviews on the F pace and they weren’t good. But usually happy people don’t post. I do and even though there’s little things going on I love my Corsair. I get happy every time I get in it and the quietness while driving is amazing. My brother has an mdx and an atlas and both of them have been to the dealer for issues. So people complaining here it’s all manufacturers not just Lincoln. Cars are run by computers and programs and there’s bugs and issues and things happen. Not like the old cars where your worst issue was like a water pump or ac compressor going bad.

Hi DomDoobie. Yes, after Alan Mulally was hired as President/CEO of Ford (from Boeing) in late 2006 to help restructure Ford (due to the early 00's ecomomic crisis), Ford subsequently sold off their ownership stakes in Jaguar/Land Rover, Aston Martin, Volvo and Mazda, beginning in 2007.

Just some useless trivia...lol. 🙃

Good luck.

Also worth adding, this was a much more admirable approach. At the same time, GM and Chrysler went begging to the federal government and took hand-outs to keep their business solvent. I think shedding some companies (and ending some products, like the Taurus at that time) are proper business decisions.

My $.02 on the topic

Yup, and took an absolute bath on Jag, Land Rover, Volvo. Another one of Jac Nassar's great ideas. He singlehandedly drove Ford to the edge of oblivion. Think he spent millions on something called red hat as well. Ford is still paying in spades for his changes.

Made a few bucks on Aston and sold their stake in Mazda.

Hi ljnelson. I agree with everything you stated except for one: Mulally actually brought back the Taurus name plate.
Or as the start of his tenure at Ford is described..."One of Mulally's first decisions at Ford was to bring back the Taurus nameplate. He said that he could not understand why the company previously scrapped the Taurus, which had been one of the company's best sellers until losing ground in the late 1990s."

He did not understand why Ford has a habit of leaving top selling vehicles to wilt and die on the vine (as they did with the Taurus in the later 90's), then discarding the nameplates, instead of keeping them updated and current. As they also have done with many more recent vehicles after he left.

For anyone interested in a basic background of what Mulally did at Ford, take a look at the "Ford Motor Company" section here: Alan Mulally - Wikipedia

Good luck.

That was Jac's doing (no taurus) his idea of re-making Ford Mo Co. You would have to lived through the nightmare that was Jac Nassar to understand a lot of it. Much revolved his childhood and how he was mistreated by others.

Darn, my senility bit me in the butt. I couldn't remember. I am also recalling that was about he time that Ford abandoned the minivan segment for a bit. It was definitely a turning point. I bought an F250 in 2008 and was very pleased with that truck for the 11 years I had it.

2023 Corsair orders, build dates

Quick update! I received an email from Lincoln stating things will be static for the next few weeks. AKA still in order processing. My local dealer just got in a Nautilus with all the options we had on the Corsair. With the uncertainty of our order, we made the decision to purchase the Nautilus. The Nautilus is only marginally larger than the Corsair so this might be an option for those of you that were in the same boat as us. I wish you all the best on your orders and hope you get your Corsairs soon! Thanks again everyone!

Vlincoln, I have a 2016 MKX, which is now called the Nautilus. It's undergone improvements I'm sure but we have been very happy with the reliability, performance, comfort etc. Looking forward to a 2023 Corsair GT we have on order and hope it will be as pleasurable as the MKX has been. We have the 2.7L Twin Turbo and I have to say I'm sure I'll miss that engine. On long trips I constantly get 27+ MPG on the highway at 70+ MPH. It's a little too thirsty in the City driving (16-17) but again, I'll miss that motor. Hopefully yours is the 2.7L too. Good luck, I think you've made a great choice.

Hello! It is indeed the 2.7. Thank you for the vote of confidence! Much appreciated. I hope you get your GT soon and thanks again for taking the time to respond! :)
