Hey everyone, first time posting here, but I stumbled across this forum while trying to figure out some issues with my new 2021 Corsair Reserve 2.0 in Flight Blue. I'm the previous owner of a 2018 MKC 2.3 Reserve in Rhapsody Blue that I loved very much, but it was coming up on it's lease and I was given a great deal vs. purchasing it off of lease.

My 2018 MKC was nearly perfect. Great acceleration, ride, comfy seats, and 0 problems. While the 2021 Corsair's ride is definitely more refined and even more quiet, with the new transmission using the 2.0 power almost as close to my old 2.3, there are a couple of issues. These are all things I read on here, so I know I'm not the only one.

Once in a while, I get a deep "thud" coming from the back when it's windy out and my windows are NOT open. Also, the car is almost un-drivable with a window open past 40mph if it's breezy. You have to open all of the windows or the thud becomes constant. My MKC would do something similar if you had the drivers side windows open, but it was tolerable and not considered severe. This is something I've never experience in any car I ever had. You'd think they would run these designs through a wind tunnel under varying conditions before putting them on the road.

Second is the 2.0 engine cover, which I received some answers on when doing research. I was cleaning leaves from my car 2 days after picking it up, and when I lifted the hood, there was just a mess of wires without the engine cover. I immediately called the dealer thinking it was missing, even they got nervous. They called me back and said, "we ran the VIN and it doesn't come with it". I didn't believe them at first, and then another dealer told me the same thing after running my VIN. I called Ford/Lincoln directly, and they got back to me, explaining it doesn't have it anymore but couldn't articulate why.

I know my MKC 2.3's cover wasn't solely for appearance, and had sound deadening material in it. It's weird because the Corsair 2.0 motor still had the grommets for the cover, so I knew it belonged. After searching hard, I found a 2.0 Nautilus cover and it lines up perfectly. Low and behold too, it is not just designed for looks, but has a sound deadening function as well.

We'll see if they have a recall on the wind/noise issue, but the engine cover issue is one you'll have to solve on your own.

Those are my 2 issues, and everything else I knew what I was getting into when I switched from the MKC to the Corsair. One thing I can say is this, even though I like the Corsair's ride, design, and stereo, it's a car that'll have to "grow" on me: whereas I loved my MKC from the start.

My thoughts are that if Lincoln doesn't fix some things soon overall, they're not going to survive as we know it. It'll go down in history as a car company that had an amazing comeback and couldn't hold onto it due to bad decision making/cutting corners.

Much said here on both topics.

Engine covers (among other things) have been deleted. Near unanimous agreement that all of the deletes are thoughtless from a marketing and sales perspective.

The engine cover can be had for about $100, just make sure you get the right upper corner mounting stud. In addition to looking a whole lot nicer, the cover itself is a foam material that absorbs sound. It should be on the car. That's what luxury is about, at some point Ford can cost cut an otherwise excellent, competitive product into oblivion.

About your other issue, cars generally are designed to maximize aerodynamics to improve efficiency, so the management of air flow over the vehicle will result in a booming sound when you disrupt it by opening a window. The soulton is to open an opposing window just a crack to neutralize the pressure gradient.

I am getting the sound when the windows are NOT open, and its worse than any car I ever had with a window open. That is the issue.

You can add great sound deadening material to the underside of the hood.

OK, that's an entirely different issue and not at all right...My Corsair is silent with the windows closed. call the dealer.

In the while, check for all the usual suspects, like the rear seats being latched tightly, the rear hatch shut securely, etc.

Any Part #'s available for the cover and the mounting stud?

I was a little disappointed when my 2021 Corsair GT PHEV didn't come with a cargo cover even though all of the necessary attachments were in the cargo area. Ended up buying a cover at the parts department for $150. I don't understand why Lincoln didn't just include the cost of the into the price of the car.

Perhaps because it is a controversial cover. Some times I wish it was the roll up type, and other times I am glad it is the solid type. They should have made the trim in the back capable of using either type.

Side note: When the first Escapes in this current generation (2020) were being purchased from dealer stock, (or ordered vehicles delivered), many buyers were surprised that a rear cargo cover was not standard, and asked for a rear cover to be included...In many cases the dealer agreed at time of purchase. Then, when the covers came in to the parts department, it was found that there wasn't any way to install them...the rear plastic trim wasn't designed for the covers. I don't remember if the rear trim was different if the cover was ordered when the car was first ordered....but just strange that Ford would have different rear plastic trim for this.

I had the dealer move the engine cover from my 2020 to the 2021.

I don't think the OP will be back, but for anyone else who did not have the engine cover, here is a question: What engine do you have?

The Order Guide shows that for 2021, these 2 engines were new:

— Turbocharged 2.3L I-4 Engine (AWD)★

— 2.5L I-4 Grand Touring Hybrid Engine (AWD)★ Late Availability

Were the covers on the other engines that were already available also deleted? Maybe it was just the 2 new engines?

Curious because I emailed my sale manager saying I had heard of this happening. He said he will check, and if anything, we will take my 2020 cover and out it on my 2022.

My 2021 GT did not come with a cover and I'd like one. The engine looks impressive, but I'd still prefer the clean look of a cover. The Ford OEM parts guy said he couldn't find one when I gave up and emailed for help. On the engine I see two studs and two stud holes I'm guessing for a snap in cover, but not sure one was ever designed for the GT. I wonder if the Ford Escape cover would fit?

I surely want to know

Sorry, I've failed to locate ANY appearance covers for the 2.5L Duratec (i4 iCVT Atkinson) engine including filtering for Escape and Maverick, and European versions like Kuga and Puma. I'm hoping someone else has better success.

Damn. I dont think I have a cover on my MKZ. its the same engine. I'll definite check. It would help if someone posts a pic of the Corsair GT engine.

Strangely enough, I was able to retrieve the cover that I bought for my 21 Corsair 2.0 when I went to the storage lot where it was towed after the accident. I don't know if it'll do me any good without getting all the mounting parts and it'll only be good if I buy another Corsair LOL. It does have a crack in it which might be able to be resolved with some super glue cuz it's just foam. If I don't buy another Corsair I'll let the forum know if somebody wants it they can have it for shipping costs.

Here is the picture of the engine cover on my MKZ Hybrid. Definitely different, as maybe the 2.5L here is bigger too vs the old one. I wonder how. At this point, i'd do an aftermarket one if I had to lol.

I installed the engine cover on my '21 2.0L and it does work pretty well in lessening engine noise in the cabin. The 4 parts you need are under $100 shipped.
