2015 Suspension Airbag PSI Modification?

I want my 2015 Navigator (base, 4wd, 101k miles), to have firmer suspension, more truck-like for towing purposes (and personal preference).

It currently has the original airbags, and I'm not leaking air. Can anyone tell me if the rubber airbags can soften over time, or expected life of the stock system?

Has anyone had their stock presets (comfort/normal/sport) adjusted by a tuner or some other way? Any other suggestions aside from replacing what appears to be fully functioning OEM equipment?

The 2015s use coils, not air bags. 2014 was the last year air springs were offered.

Increased tire pressure may give you that firmer suspension. Start are a couple of pounds and move up a couple more after driving.

Well shoot, this is embarrassing. I assumed because it had various ride settings, it meant I had airbags. I just went and looked and you are right, I was wrong.

Sounds like I just need new suspension?

Check out the ford expedition forums. Alot of users on there change out the stock parts with various aftermarket brands alto great effect.

Hi Basic15. A “new suspension” may cost you a pretty chunk of change and still not necessarily get you what you want.

Does your vehicle’s “Sport” mode firm the ride up enough?

Keep in mind that the adjustable suspension uses electronically adjustable shocks. Because of this, there are fewer choices out there for modifications.

You can try adjusting tire pressures as Action recommended, and/or the Expedition forums as dlcorbett also recommended. Just keep in mind that although they are based off the same platform, not all aftermarket parts for the Expedition are direct swaps for the Navigator.

So be cautious what you are buying and installing before spending your money, as it may not fit, or it may wind up in you spending a good bit of money without getting what you are looking for.

Thanks, my intention is to look into the expedition forums as well, but thought I would start here.

No, the sport and tow settings do not firm up enough.

I know there are retrofit modules to bypass the electronic adjustment settings without having a warning light on.

Does anyone else think that their Navigators of that generation suspension is too soft for towing (5k lbs)?
